Hi

I have an enourmous problem, I can't play dragon age: origins.

I don't know where to turn, so I'll post it here hoping someone can offer me advice, things are a little complicated but please bear with me..

I bought Dragon age Collectors edition and everything worked fine, all the extra material too.

I bought Battlefield 2142 recently, when I installed it I created an EA account under the same e-mailaddress and password that I had for my Dragon age EA account but with another name (I forgot that dragon age had an EA account, I know I shouldn't have done this, it was stupid, I wish I had a time machine at my disposal)

Now when I opened DA I couldn't open my saved games because I didn't have access to my extra material, the game didn't recognize my profile as the one who'd registered the downloaded content.. it said it was unauthorized, even though it's the same email-address as before..

well.. Here is where it gets worse.. I contacted DA Customer Support, had a chat with a guy there, he said that he could see that my extra material I got with my collectors edition is registered on my emailaddress. I said I logged in with that email address and it didn't work. I was adviced to manually remove dragon age and reinstall it.

I did so. I should add that when I manually removed all DA files, there were files that I couldn't delete because they were in use (even though I couldn't see where) so having just a few files left and most of the game gone I installed the game again(I know that's probably bad?), restarted the computer, uninstalled it,restarted the computer and then installed it again.

Now when I open DA and the download manager there's nothing there, nothing to download and nothing downloaded. When I try to resume my last saved game, it's not only asking for the extra material (ring, stone prisoner and so on), it's asking for the collector's edition..

I don't know what to do.:crying:

It sounds like a lot of your problems might have been related, not to the EA account, but to the Dragon Age Content Updater service not running. Try manually starting it before you start the game:

1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER

2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.

3.) Right click it and select START

If you get an error, or the service is missing, there's more troubleshooting information in section 3 of the Redeemed DLC Troubleshooting FAQ. With the reinstalling and manual removal you've done, you might have to reinstall the service, instructions for that are in section 3.2.4.

Depending on the state of things this beta fix for the Dragon Age Content Updater might also help.

Thank you for answering!

I opened the download manager as you suggested, it woreked fine opening it, and sure enough I made progress, I still can't resume my saved games, it still says it needs the collectors edition, the memory band and all that but in the download manager it's at least trying to download all my content :-D

The bad thing is that, there's a red exclamation mark there and it's not starting the download because it requires versin 1.0 of the game.. so I downloaded the latest patch(?), but it still asked for version 1.0?

I'm normally not all that bad with computers but I don't understand what's wrong.. everything with the game used to work so smoothly..
