Join us! Female representation is greatly appreciated/admired. There were only 3 females in SpecX (Flies_By_Handles, Kwijyi and Painforest). That made for a 1/10 ratio... clearly a sausage fest. Every loves great female gamers.

I really like how you narrated over the builds and the whys of what you were chosing.  I think that will let the newer players get the game mechanics and power trees.

I set my Slayer up per your recommendations (never even really played them before) and was owning on Gold in a PuG.  It's actually my build I use for fun now.  Fast paced, in your face, true Vanguard tactics.

Question though, do you think it would survive on Platinum in a PuG.  I may try it tonight.  But I'm guessing without coordinatation from teammates you could get surrounded quickly.  But we'll see. 

Better question, think anyone can solo Platinum with that build?

It can survive just about anything if you're the host... that's what so amazing about that kit... the stunts it can pull off, the situations it can survive in that would get any other kit killed... and it generates really good DPS/stagger.

Sure someone could solo Platinum with that.... Plat has been soloed with a lot less before. It just all depends on player skill.

We don't want scrubs tarnishing our good name, for instance: A known Spectre goes into a lobby and performs very poorly... this reflects on all the members. We can't have that... we can't call ourselves the best if we let scrubs amoungst our ranks. That's why there is tryouts... the reputation of skilled, badass, cool people must be upheld.

If you have anymore questions (not trolling preferrably) I will answer them in a calm manner and try to paint a clearer picture for you.

It's really just a bunch of REALLY good players, who get together and steamroll the game while laughing constantly... success is guaranteed.

I have a pretty clear picture, but thanks for offering anyway.  It still sounds like a high school clique who judge who can be a member based on something as unimportant has how well you play a video game.  You may all be skilled players but "cool", I just don't see it based on the forum behavior I've seen over the past year from some of the members of the group.  And based on your own post, that behavior reflects on the rest of the members as well.

I know my limitations, basically, and if my best is their worst I don't think I'm good enough. I'm perfectly happy just having them on my friends list.

ETA: And if the standards are going to be lower than what I know of the old group, then I don't see the point.

1) whether you like it or not being good at a video game is pretty important when your trying to joing a group specifically for the best players out there.

I would point out several Spectres have done more to enhance the player base than most of the people who complain about the group. There have been some posts by members that were tongue in cheek humor that didn't go over well but again I would say the positive outweighs the negative for the most part.

You can't have an elite group without some perceiving you as elitest douches.

you're overthinking it. you're either exceptional at this game or you're not. it's difficult to fully explain what is required, but has been alluded to in this thread.

(meaning, if an officer plays with anyone trying out and is unsure, then you are not going to get in)

redjohn knows this already and i have expressed as much to the ps3 officers, so we're all on the same page 

Lol, I don't think I am exceptional, but I'm good, very good. I haven't played with the Spectre guys so I don't know how I'd match up to them. But, I do play with the kits and weapons I like, what ever they are, and I've only failed a handful of Platinum extractions while PUGing, and muck about with the builds, some of which seem crazy, but seem to work for me 

I might get round to applying at some point. I'm at GMT, so it can be a bit hit and miss to play with the guys I know from the US.

what platform are you on? just get in touch with an appropriate officer and they will play with you

They changed their profile status to say they were officially leaving BSN due to real life/whatever.
