It gives me a brief period to set up on an enemy. Within that brief period generally I can have a power ready or a headshot ready, which trumps any other gear in the game except maybe grenade gear for me. Now I can kill effectly without it and survive effectly without it but it trumps any weapon boosting gear for me because of the headshot factor and it allows me to use powers that go through walls well, not even mentioning setup biotic bubble or cain mines etc.doozerdude wrote...

I disagree though, everyone says it's so great at locating enemies but IMO not really. It gives you a bit more accuracy I guess for shooting through walls, but often times you can catch enemy health/shields icon through walls anyways.

Maybe for someone who just unlocked a Fury, and is learning how to tele, or someone who "plays casually" and listens to music or is doing other things while palying, it could be useful. But I find this gear to probably be the most useless out of any gear.
With audio clues + experience your situational awareness is perfectly fine, however with the hunter mode overlay it is slightly impaired. Combine that with the fact that there are much much more useful gear that you could use... Geth Scanner just seems pointless.

simplified, so +1 for logiic, however
stronghold package (!or survivor loadout ) = gi, jug, destroyer, Valkyrie
lots of kits with a hurricane = barrage gear
on some classes where you are using the geth scanner, you are saying they don't need it for health or weapon damage, could argue for armored compartments.
