Geth scanner is not a bad gear at all, but I definitely often find myself preferring another. I agree with you that if you have good orientation on the battle field, it is mostly unneeded, though in some cases it can definitely save you from a sneaky phantom or Marauder's elbow here and there.

It depends which class you use. I would never run it on, say, a batsol, but my phoenix vanguard, who i was sore about ever since the smash cooldown nerf, as he has hands down the coolest human armor in multiplayer, has become a god on the battlefield. .

I don't know if it's just me, but I don't find it as invasive as HM. It might just be a mental thing.
