Or he could randomly abandon the Wardens and be the reason why a large amount of them get killed again...Yalision wrote...
I'm looking forward to seeing Loghain in Dragon Age 3. I hope to anyway. He could be a big asset being alive. The Hero of Riverdane could be the reason a major battle or something in the Wardens is successful rather than a failure.

I doubt both of them will ever be in the same room without trying to kill one another.
Loghain has no reason to kill Alistair, other than self-defence in the case Alistair attacked him.
Unless he's pissed than another Theirin could be banging her daughter.

It's surely an original idea....

Only a very contrived situation could force them to work with each other.
Anyway, I doubt they'll use many (if any) resources to adress the eventuality that you have let Loghain live and didn't have him kill the Archdemon. I predict that little to noone who hasn't read the books has spared Loghain. Out of the people who did, most had him sacrifice himself to redeem himself.
Stopping a World War between Mages and Templars is serious enough for them to have to work together.
If this war breaks out it won't be a simple country to country war but the entire world at war.
Loghain may have been a AO in origins but don't forget after he lives and joined the wardens he help rebuilt the Wardens in Derelden. Recuiting countless new members into the Grey Wardens.

You want them back simply to listen to their banter?

They were talking about dev resources, not resources in the world of Thedas.
The devs won't put multiple scenes, dialogue, writing, animation, etc. into a plot line that next to no one will see, since they didn't import the exact right set of circumstances.
EDIT: People really need to wake up and realize how very little is going to be delivered in terms of save imports and the differences between worlds. Your world may exist, but it will look the exact same as everyone else's world - where the Warden killed Loghain, did the Dark Ritual and named Allistair king. Because even if you didn't... guess what? You did.

That wouldn't make much sense without a good reason. Loghain betrayed Cailan because he thought he was foolish to trust the Wardens after his experience in the Deep Roads, and that his willingness to open the borders to Orlesian military was a sure way to submit Ferelden to oppression once again. He saw unspeakable horrors during the Orlesian occupation and his actions on the battlefield were, while wrong, an attempt to preserve and protect Ferelden. He did not believe it was a real Blight.
He was a complex and interesting character. I hope to see him again since I kept him alive.

Loghain is not the reason the men at Ostagar got killed, if you had played the Return to Ostagar DLC, you would have heard Elric Maraigne (a member of Cailan's honour guard) say that what Loghain did made no difference, since the darkspawn were too many, so by retreating he actually saved Ferelden's elite fighters (himself, Ser Cauthrien and the rest of the members of Maric's Shield).

You won't. Unless it is as a brief cameo (nothing in depth and saying nothing unique that isn't said by another NPC if they Loghain was dead) or a codex entry. Maybe a slight dialogue change, or a visit to the clone factory like in ME3.
That's the most they can offer with the Save Import. If you are thinking you are going to see entire plotlines based on a single choice from two games ago, then I'm sorry. There has been zero evidence that this has ever been done with a Bioware game that did Save Imports. We now have 3 examples (3 1/2 if you count Awakening) of Bioware using sequels with the Save Import and none of them come close to specialized story lines based on prior choices.
You'd have better luck writing fan fiction.

If you spared Loghain and let him join the Warden, Alistair became a drunkard bum, not a king.
That is not always true. Here's how:
1) Harden Alistair.
2) When you reach Arl Eamon's Estate in Denerim and rescue Anora, talk to Anora and propose that marrying Alistair is the best compromise.
3) Go straight to Alistair and run it by him. If your approval and coercion are high enough, he will go for it.
4) Go straight back to Anora and confirm the marriage.
5) At the Landsmeet, The Warden duels and defeats Loghain. He accepts Logain as a candidate. Alistair will protest and quit the Wardens. The player then reminds Alistair of his commitment to marry Anora. Alistair will agree to marry Anora but will refuse to fight with you.
6) Do the Dark Ritual with Morrigan.
Voila: Warden lives, Loghain lives and goes on to be assigned to Orlais, Alistair is King.
I will try this with my current playthrough.
I've just usually let Loghain go on to kill the Archdemon and redeem himself as one of Ferelden's biggest heroes with no OGB. I would have though Loghain would have an assassin on him daily if he was over there.
However, FINALLY!!! My canon can have my Inquisitor and Loghain fighting side-by-side, and enslave Orlais in the name of Ferelden! Karma's a biotch!!!!!

He forgot to mention that before his reassigning Loghain actually help rebuild the Wardens in Ferelden. Because of him the Grey Wardens were rebuilt quickly.

As Alistair would probably say...
Do people intensionally ignore the "IF" just so they can find a reason to insult someone?
On topic:
Chances of loghain appearing in DA3 if he lived in DAO is quite high since DA3 will take place in the location where Loghain is sent.
Alistair may appear in DA3 but they probably made it so that only a Hardened King Alistair will appear to solve the politic issues happening between Ferelden and Orlais as Alistair stated they were having back in DA2. Along with Queen Anora is she is made queen or married to Alistair.
