Ever see one of those movies where some noob picks up the insanely powerful weapon the hero dropped and tries shooting it?  Only to see a spray of bullets flying in all directions until the hero tackles him to save everyone from certain death?

That was me and my first attempt using the Saber last night.  The kick on that thing is so crazy, I never could get back to the target for follow up shots.  Once I shot an entire clip at a brute and missed every shot.

There was much hilarity as the reapers all died laughing at me.

I am now safely back to using my Phaeston.

The spread sucks and I hate it.

Perfectly centered head shot on a Geth Trooper across the map?

Prepare yourself for your 5 shoulder-shots medal.

Even with Marksman the accuracy is not good enough imo. It's mostly just there for a novelty showoff or for RP'ing

A few advices:
- Be calm when you shoot, it's not a rapid fire AR,
- Take your time to line up your headshot, most mooks die with a well placed bullet, most shielded mooks with two (with a stagger in between).
- For all intents and purposes consider it a scopeless sniper rifle, damage and accuracy are on par.

Stability mod if you really want to use it.

Is there any difference between the SP and MP version? I don't have it unlocked yet, but I played with it in SP a few days ago and was able to land every headshot easily, with no stability/accuracy mods.

The recoil can be dealt with with any class, it's just a matter of habit. Also, I tend to use the Saber on all my level 1 characters, it carries a heck of a punch.

HeroicMass aka the King of Xbox Headshots sucks with it too.

It's a fun gun, but I don't use it much outside of the Quarksman, and even then... Eh, there's other guns I'd rather use.

I use it a lot. Its my general go-to AR (I know its not as good as the Harrier, but I like the feel a lot better), but yeah its not meant for rapid fire. Steady aimed fire is the way to go.

It's a true UR, needs a lot of effort from the user to show it's true potential; But that potential is much more than what you'd get with the easier-to-use guns.

I've tried it on xbox. The snap targetting ruins it. Centre of mass just isn't good enough for this setup.

Like HolyAvenger said, it's not a rapid fire weapon. You literally have to be very calm when shooting it. Think of it like a scope-less sniper... or slap a scope on it and consider it a sniper with a ridiculously high magazine capacity.

Keep an eye on the crosshairs while shooting. You'll see before you shoot the crosshairs are very close together. Immediately after shooting the crosshairs "bloom" or spread out. Wait until the crosshairs shrink back down to normal size before shooting again. Depending on the class you are using and whether or not you are using a stability mod the crosshair will take a longer or shorter amount of time to shrink again. I like to use it on a Turian (TGI, TSent) and I can shoot pretty consistently at a rate of about 1 per second (give or take). Just be a little patient and line up your shot carefully.

The ammo type you use might also make a difference on the character or playstyle you use. I love incendiary ammo on the TGI or TSent because I can immediately follow up with an overload for (usually) a fire explosion. Phasic rounds let me one-shot (in the head) sheilded enemies as well as the common mooks. I'll sometimes put cryo ammo on as well just to see enemies freeze and fall over, but I tend to not get Cryo Explosions that often (using overload immed after). If you have the thermal scope (the one that sees through walls) try that with armor piercing mods/ammo and/or drill rounds for some wallhax.

The key is to be a little patient with your shots. don't rush, or you WILL miss. For guys that rush you (dragoons for example) a way to make them stop for a second like overload or energy drain is handy. or toss a low-cooldown power (throw, cryoblast) to make them roll predictably.

Well, I guess once you try it on PC, xbox Saber feels really sluggish in comparison.

Thing is, with Marksman, it really can be. The thing about the Sabre is that it's slow rate of fire and fairly wide spread when hip firing can make it suffer in up-close encounters, such as with Dragoons let's say. With Marksman (and to a lesser extent Devastator Mode and Hunter Mode) those shortcomings are addressed, and it becomes a very good all-round gun.

Still feels very sluggish on Xbox without trying PC.

i was hooked on it about a month ago, doing quite well with it.
then i put it down.
tried it yesterday, and found the saying to be true, "use it or lose it".
must build up my saber skillz all over again...
