An average player vs. 'Best of the Best'

HuSol/Rev and QSol/Eagle I doubt a lot of people would rate them as top 10 kits but I enjoy them. I consider it a goal just to be able to compete with the infiltrators and carry my own weight.

I will probably never have because I don't typically play characters I don't like on Gold + ... and i'm not interested in endless Silver matches with those kits ... not enough enemy strength.
But those Botb ers have the experience in the game to help, and more often than not, are dominant players ...

You don't know how many of the other players in those games were also BotB holders.
Preach! Brotha Preach!!!
If that didn't hit the nail on the head?!
GAME OVER.
I guess you guys don't check manifests. And of course at the time of the recorded match, they might have not been BotB either.

No I never check manifests, that's too much work for me. It's game on, anyway, I'll drag anyone through on gold, and in plat i'll just check weapon and consumables.

The only challenging parts of the BotB banner are the Map Mastery (grinding Gold/Platinum waves) and Lone Wolf (either 2 Gold or 1 Platinum solo). The former can be done, eventually, even if you suck by leeching in to other people's Gold/Platinum lobbies for long enough. The latter, while more challenging, has ways around doing the actual challenge. There are a variety of ways one could probably cheat and get their solos in on PC, and on consoles, someone could grind out a couple Gold solos by hiding off map on Hydra with a Demolisher or caster.
So you never know what you're getting.
Cheat?
What's the point of cheating?
I couldn't live with myself if I had cheated to get my Lone Wolf banner (and the BOTB right after).
I got it fair and square: one solo gold with the huntress in Vancouver vs. reapers and the second time with the kroguard in FB White vs. geth: silvers & bronzes using the salarian engineer in FB Giant, also vs. geth.
I made countless gold attempts before those 2 wins, using different kis and locatons, and it was so frustrating that I swore not to do solos again, and I have kept my word.
On the other hand, the satisfaction and sense of pride I felt after completing my second solo gold cannot be described with simple words
That satisfaction would have never been possible to feel if I had cheated

But I don't really understand how it can be so.
I mean, BotB requires Lone Wolf and Nomad. That means at least 2 Gold or 1 Plat solo, and 200 Gold Waves on every single map.
I don't understand how someone can achieve that and not be a good player just through the sheer amount of play experience it demands.
How do you go through 250 Gold games and not be good at Gold?!

1) They're a completionist in video games and are just enjoying their prize for "getting" everything, if that makes sense. I fall into this category.
2) e-peen. Need I say more?
3) Trolling.
Like a title in an MMO, it guarantees only that they have managed to get the game to recognize that they have completed something significant (for want of a better word). It doesn't even guarantee they earned it legitamately.
Pugz will be pugz, and are just another face of the RNG god.

100 Gold waves. I cheated by including several 100 Platinum waves instead
Edit : The 200 are hazard waves

I don't judge people on banner though as it does not guarantee anything about how they will play in the upcoming game. As an example, I used a Ghost to get Lone Wolf and since then have done enough with the AIU to do it again. This means nothing when I play an asari (which I usually do) and bears no resemblance at all to my performance with a Talon (I'm rubbish with him). Meanwhile a friend of mine who is probably about the same skill level will never get BotB because he refuses to play solo but has a highrer challenge score because he uses a greater variety of weapons and melees more than me.
In summary: There is no hard and fast rule. Banners, challenge points and N7 just hint at what someone might be capable of in optimum circumstance.

They probably farmed with the Box of Shame, used nothing but crutch classes/weapons and copied builds from other players without ever trying to figure anything out by themselves.
In the end they succeeded in grinding out achievements, but learnt very little about the game.
A person can do the same job for a life-time and never get better at it if she doesn't want and try to improve herself.

I've rejoined the MP recently so have been lagging behind in the points section. Quite sad that my 3 successful Bronze solo attempts are not recorded. May be motivated to re-do those again but I'm more interested in farming credits now to collect those new items before this MP closes down.

I dont think adepts will do very well against geth for example..
while an infiltrator will cream almost everything.
