Now that BioWare has pretty much screwed up the game and made it all "pew pew" and not a good game (aka RPG) Tali is my one and only reason to buy the game now...I kid ye not.

Hey, it might not be as shooter-esque as we think! Keep your hopes up! It could be a great RPG! Just try and wait until you've played it.

I don't know how they think they could get away with all these "changes" that people ****ed about wanting on the threads (which in reality screw up the game's awesomeness) and NOT give us our Talimance which we have wanted since we first saw her!

I don't think they screwed up the game...they just improved the combat system alot. My belief is that they are trying to reach a larger group of people, so alot of the press footage has been about the new combat mechanics. I personally don't think it means that they wound up slacking on the RPG part of the game, partly due to the fact that bioware makes amazing games, and because I just listned to a podcast (Post game report: The Epic Win: Commander Shepard interview) in which they talked to Mark Meer ( The voice of male Shepard ) He indicates that he had to do more speaking lines for ME2 then in ME.....so I feel its safe to assume that they didn't **** slap the RPG part of mass effect just for the shooting and pew pew lazer guns :wizard:

I think you're making some tenuous assumptions here.

http://social.biowar...926/polls/1180/ suggests to me that the changes are being well-received by players who don't necessarily feel the need to contribute to forum wars.

Calm down Xena. Wait until you get your hands on it before making an informed judgment.

It's a well documented fact that Mass Effects weakest point was it's combat. It was serviceable, but nothing spectacular.

If Bioware can combine their brilliant story telling, deep characters, and extremely awesome customization options with a better combat system, don't you think it's worth at least giving a try?

Ammo systems are an annoyance, there's no more mako, there's not even an inventory anymore. Powers have universal cooldown times, and the skills have been messed up.

Yeah they totally didn't ruin every good feature about ME1...

Oh I have no doubt the shooter fans are perfectly happy, however BioWare's core fangroup are RPG fans.

Again, there is no evidence that the "silent majority" is or will be against the changes made to the game. The poll, while it isn't perfect, suggests that it is the die-hard RPG purists who will accept no concessions who are in a very diminuitive minority. Such a premise is in fact bolstered by declining sales of pure RPGs over recent years, which is why fewer games of that sort are still being made.

Yeah, it's not the same game, and imo there's no way the ammo system will be better for people who liked the overheating, like myself. But that doesn't mean the game itself will be worse. Wait until you play it before you claim all these changes will be bad.

Wow.  You really have totally prejudged the game, haven't you.  Its pretty sad, truth be told.

The first game was also a shooter.

And you know, every new feature was discussed, tested, and implemented by the devs themselves. They are some of the most hardcore RPG fans out there. They okayed only the changes they thought were improvements.

We only have a week to go. Lets just wait and see? Kay? No need to stress it. ^_^

Honestly, those parts were fun (except the Mako....I got used to it but I was not a fan...at least there making a new one.....apparently) I personally found the inventory system unorganized, and a tad bit tedious with all the upgrades etc. Though I will agree with you, ammo systems are annoying. But personally the reason I play the game isn't for the inventory, the mako, etc. I play it because it has a great story, as well as interacting with your squad and learning about them is quite fun.

This has a lot do with tali . . . but then again, you can talk about a ridiculous waist-hip ratio for only so long.

When I'm going to be shelling out $65 for it, you're damn right I'm gonna pre-judge it so I didn't waste my money.

She's not half as bad as Dinkamus.

"I hate it all. I hate the characters, the combat, the new normandy, the armor, everything."

I'm, of course, paraphrasing here, but seriously s/he has preconceptions on everything.

That's what I was saying, Tali is my only reason to buy ME2 at this point and time.

That's the one thing that unites us all, our love for Tali. :P

I think the few rpg elements they take out, will be well disguised.

I'm also thinking i'm gonna like the new combat.

Exp.My 50+lv Adept was no where near as powerful biotic as Liara, simple because I had to pour points into,Paragon/renagade Spectre training,Adept/nemisis points all took away from my biotic powers+ i aslo have the shotgun taking up points, basic armor etc..made me a weaker biotic never mastered any biotic skills just like 3 advance.

Anyone else wondering what happens if you don't get her loyalty? We know not getting loyalty leads to people dying, betrayal, that kind of thing.

I can't see Tali stabbing Shepard in the back easily. Well, she DOES have a knife... huh... now that I think about it...

I meant to bring something like that up earlier.

Don't you think it's odd that you have to earn her loyalty in the first place? I mean after ME1 you'd think she'd be loyal to you already.

I can't imagine that happening.  But if you were a complete arse to her, I could perhaos see her not rushing to help you, as it were.  But she has always struck me as a 'paragon' kind of character - I'd be genuinely surprised if she did anything particularly malicious!

I doubt she'd betray him/her but she wouldn't be as willing to give her life to help Shep, and may be more likely to retreat if things get out of hand. Really though, I have no clue.
