AHHHH, that's the picture of him when he looks at Shepard for the first time! I swear to god, the first time I played that moment I felt that look was full of tension! It's one of the reasons that made me think he'd be a love interest, when I discovered there were love interests in ME1.
Exactly! I was still so upset because of what happened to Nihlus. I almost wanted to stop playing the game, that's how upset and over-the-top whiny I was at the time! I thought "If an awesome character like that dies, then...grrr*" and then Garrus showed up with his strange future-monocle thing and I was like "Please let him be an important character of some kind!"
Ha, there's nothing better than playing a game without knowing anything about it, I swear. Too bad I can't do that with ME2. Well, I hope I don't need to tell you of my disappointment when Garrus' final "Thank you" dialogue concerned Saren and some more C-Sec. I never expected him to become romantically involved with FemShep, but...I dunno. I guess part of me just wanted it to happen.
What were your impressions when you first saw Nihilus? I mean this question assuming most of you have a special interest in Turians, but even if you're only interested in Garrus, feel free to answer.
All I knew when I started playing the game was that there was the option to get, uh, romantically involved with an alien woman. That interested me somehow. Yes, I'm weird. Anyway, then Nihlus showed up, and I knew
nothing about turians at the time. I was awed. Especially by his green eyes. He just looked so interesting! I first assumed his unseen "death" scene when you hear the gunshot was supposed to raise the tension or something. You can't believe how I felt when I saw him lying there in the puddle of his own blood.
I ask because from the first moment I saw him in the Normandy, I felt intrigued and mesmerized. I remember asking my older brother "Umm, is that a guy with a mask, or an alien?" =D I knew I would like them. Was it the voice? Was it the body? Was it their mask-like faces? Only thing I know is, one week later I was head over heels in love with Garrus. But I feel I must add, it's not because he's a Turian. It's because he is Garrus.
Haha, we felt the same way then! I was a bit confused about his thin waist at first, but overall they just add to the great aesthetics of turians.
ME1 gave me this sense of wonder the first time I played it. Everything was just so new and beautiful to look at. I hope ME2 will make me feel the same way.
