Straight from the wiki:
* The decision to save either Kaidan or Ashley.
* Whether or not the player kills Wrex on Virmire.
* Whether or not the player decides to save the Citadel Council at the end of Mass Effect.
* The player's choice of love interest.
* Whether the player spares or destroys the Rachni Queen at Peak 15.
* The player's treatment of Conrad Verner.
* Whether or not the player completed the UNC: Asari Diplomacy sidequest.
* Whether the player chose to allow the Alliance to conduct experiments on Nirali Bhatia's body.
* The decision to save either Kaidan or Ashley.

Personally, I'm glad that ME2 will have a list at the beginning to remind you, because I cannot remember exactly what I did on any of my first few playthroughs.

Also it was said we can change our class/appearance at the beginning of ME2? is that correct or just the appearance. i have a lvl 58 soldier that i can quickly bump up to 60 rather than having to sit thru another 14 lvls with this infiltrator.

It was confirmed you will be able to change your class upon importing. According to a podcast there is a decent narrative excuse for this as well. I could track down the exact dev post and podcast but honestly, is that really needed at this point?
Just top off your soldier and you should be fine.

Are all of the decisions that can be imported from a ME save present in the ME 2 new game introduction sequence? If they are it will save me from playing through the game a third time.

The developers have stated that over 100 choices will carry over so the introduction sequence will probarbly only let you choose the major choices (Council live or die, Kaidan or Ashley etc.)

Correct. So my assumption is pretty much everything carries over.

You only get to choose if it's a new game created on ME2. Don't know if you knew that, but your post implied you can change your choices if you import.Bobojim wrote...

*Spoilers*
Also the 'introduction' where you're reminded of your choices (import) or make them (new game) isn't really at the beginning, it takes place after the tutorial when you're leaving Cerberus station.
Timeline:
-Normandy Attacked.
-Revived on Cerberus Station.
-Tutorial where the station is attacked.
-Some point after this Miranda checks to see if your memory is up to snuff after being revived early, asks you about ME1 choices. If you respond saying you did something you didn't in ME1, she'll tell you you're wrong. If you're in a new game this will set the choice and she'll tell you you're right.

the link to the wiki please?
if that s right that over 100 actions/decisions are carried over, so it means it can be any if not all of the side quests?? i've done them with my first playthrough, then i finished the game 6 or 7 more times to max 2 characters, but without the side quests....... no solution here? :/
