I started playing ME2 again a month back, and I finally got the Kasumi DLC. Obviously, you will all anticipate this question:

What do you think about the Locust? (Assume Insane difficulty for everything)

------------------------------------------
I did some basic homework on the matter. What I found is as follows:

Locust for squadmates:

http://social.biowar...8/index/2305776

Locust for Shepard:

------------------------------------------

At first I thought Locust was a godsend, and lugged it around for a playthrough as a Sentinel. But on a Vanguard playthrough,  I am starting to find that Tempest still has its charms.

Locust's one big problem seems to be its relatively long reload time, given how often you need to reload it. Assuming it's fairly early in the game and you don't have a lot of defensive tech researched, I found that it's an inferior weapon for tight corners and shielded, charging enemies (such as the Mordin / Garrus recruitment missions). If the enemy strafes fairly fast, one slip and a quarter of your clip is wasted shooting the air. As a low-ammunition gun on some missions where there is not a lot of stray clips, this liability is prohibitive.

Also, I know some people have said that "covering fire" does not force enemies back into cover, but as far as I've seen, the reverse is true. And in light of this, the Locust seems to be an inferior platform for providing covering fire.

Now - any mission is beatable regardless of the weapons you carry, so it's hard to measure which gun is better. But what are your thoughts?

Locust is a replacement AR and is good for mid-long range. Which is why it doesn't really supplement a Vanguard as well as the Shuriken or Tempest, IMO.

Locust is probably best on the two pure casters, the Sentinel, and you can argue about merits on early game Infiltrator.
