Okay, let's say that the Leviathan DLC had done more to flesh out what the Leviathans are up to beyond one research station. Let's say that you learn the following:
  • They've been biding their time and building up their resources, waiting for their chance to strike;
  • They have thousands of research/training worlds under their power, off the relay grid;
  • They've used their R&D worlds to gain scientific superiority, resulting in new methods of control and warfare;
  • There are hundreds of worlds being used to hide Leviathan life, rather than just the one we find;
  • The only thing that's been keeping the Leviathans at bay are the Reapers;
  • The Leviathans are ready to fight a clever cold war, only revealing their hand (their military) when necessary;
  • They plan to strike when the metal is cooling, after the war, when everyone feels safe with the Reapers gone;
  • The Leviathans are capable of space travel via a form of biotics and have all sorts of augmentations;
  • The Leviathans designed the first Crucible (the one that would merely destroy the Reapers);
  • Space-travelling Leviathans could easily help to enslave enemy forces to fight for them;
  • You have six months at best before the Leviathans really get underway;
  • Your chances don't look good.
So essentially the creators of the Reapers had contingency plans and are just waiting to retake their galaxy. They've been using their massive intellect to plan. They're more cautious and far, far less arrogant now, after having their rears handed to them by the Reapers, at least partially. After beating a retreat to places where the Reapers couldn't easily follow, they took the time to look at what had happened and plan for retalliation. They had time, as no threat other than the Reapers would rise up against them, anyway.

If this were discussed in ME3 as part of the Leviathan DLC, would it change your ending choice? If so, what would it change it to? So yes, this is another poll as I'm curious. I've also provided options for those who wouldn't change their ending. It's always worried me how readily people would doom themselves, that in their arrogance and hubris they don't see creatures that could essentially think a Reaper to death as a threat. This thread outlines my feelings. I'm wondering whether my perceptions and realisations have any impact upon yours.

I don't change my ending choice because the Leviathans are actually the only ones that hold Star Dog at bay.

So, if the worst case scenario you completely made-up out of nothing to justify your arrogant self-satisfying view that anyone who chooses Destroy is a moron for one reason or another, which is just laughably flawed by the way, comes to pass, would I change my choice?

Nope.

Because your headcanon is stupid.

The levisthans have been revovering and preparing their retur longer than there has been life on planet Earth.... Do they really need that much more time? Once they think the catalyst failed them they will return with a vengeance... Seriouly how much time do you think an ancient and powerful species needs to prepare against a warravaged galaxy?

You don't get tired, do you?

No, I won't change my choice because of a bunch of cuttlefish that have proven to be the most moronic race in the galaxy's history.

Are we supposed to assume that in the control ending scenario, Reaper-God Shepard is somehow preventing the Leviathans from exerting local control of nearby Reaper forces and using them for their own purposes?

Based on this why would our ending choice change? Your headcanon scenario makes the Leviathans invincible. It doesn't matter if the Reapers are still around.

If they had that many, they would have supplied more than a measly 450 war assets. lol. This thread is winning on so many levels.

Okay Auld Wulf, let's see you play your own game.

If Synthesis and Control were the worst things ever, would you still choose them?

(It all boils down to this, does it not?)

Leviathans look like wise true neutral creatures. Something like "Space Druids".

They are not a threat. They will rule so unnoticeable that everyone will think they build their own future themselves. 99% of thralls will not even be under direct control, and will have no idea that Leviathans even exist.

Spoken like someone who has absolutely no idea what he's talking about.

Yeah, the Leviathans were so wise and neutral, they used their abilities to subjugate the galaxy to pay tribute to them, and made a machine that eventually went on to almost wipe them out against their will.

No, the Leviathans are cruel, and arrogant, and, ignoring the truly frightening notion that someone is actually okay with the idea of a race of creatures stupid enough to pretty much wipe themselves out in their hubris controlling everyone from behind the scenes, no, their control of galaxy would not be like that.

Meh the Leviathans were at their most dangerous when they were cloaked in shadow.

Now that their secrecy is blown it's only a matter of time before we purge them.
