If it is like a open universe game, kind of like skyrim, where you can choose any race and completely play how you want to and choose paths and all that.

What will make you want to buy ME4?

Ya know what WOULD be an interesting prequel? If we got to play during the Prothean era. Getting to see all the other races as "Primitives." Salarians licking their eyes and eating flies, Quarians looking hot out of their suits, human cavemen and illiterate Asari ^_^

PMSL. The protagonist is John Shepard, not John McClane :D

I'm one of those fans that'll buy it because of the name, that's the selling power, but it has to really grab me to keep me interested, very few games do that for me nowadays

Not this time.

Bought ME1, played it, loved it. Bought ME2 because ME1 was awesome. Loved ME2 equally. Bought ME3 because ME1 and 2 were awesome. Played ME3... loved it up until the final 10 minutes then wondered what the hell happened to the good script writing. Later found out Casey Hudson and Mac Walters shut the rest of the script writers out and only the two of them wrote the ending. *Breathes* Problematic.

This time I will be keeping a close eye on the leaks, E3 footage and reviews. If they look even remotely shoddy then I simply won't buy the game. This time around I've got nothing to lose because Shepard won't be in the game. My previous saves from the first trilogy won't be carried over so again, nothing to lose.

ME4 has to be something really special to get me to buy this time around.

For me it is simpler.

I will buy ME4 if it is available on store shelf. No way I am not gonna buy, unless they make the protagonist in the face of Justin Bieber.

100% agree.

 1) It has absolutely no connection to the roiginal trilogy.  No returning characters, no canonized endings.   a complete tabula rasa

2) "Heroic" endings more in keeping with the first two ME endings and DAO.  At least as possible endings.

3) Less emphasis on cinematics more emphasis on roleplaying mechanics.  Like a functioning dialogue wheel.

4) ideally no multiplayer, But at any rate, this time true segregation between SP and MP.  If people don['t want to do MP, don't force them to get the "best" ending..

5) Stellar reviews from players whom I trust.

Even then, I'd likely wait until the end of the DLC cycle.  Especially is there is multiplayer.

look i found a person that can think for themself :D ironically i agree with the entire post and thus ill say...
what this guy said :D

I’m curious; those that are saying they won’t buy it on Origin – what makes you think that bypassing Origin could ever be an option?

EA has positioned Origin as its digital delivery platform; Bioware and EA are inseparable. BioWare games will use Origin. SWTOR which is the last game I bought from EA on a disc still required origin installed to run, so you aren't escaping the Origin nasties even if you don't download the game through it.

I understand this distaste for Origin, but if you want to play the game on PC you’re gonna have to use Origin. Or am I missing something?

If it feels new and not just like a rehash of ME1-3.

There will most likely be cracks. I haven't played games on the PC for a generation, but back when I did I always got hold on all kinds of cracks to circumvent stupid stuff. For instance I hated having to switch CD's because the game needed the disc inserted, so I always installed NO-CD Cracks and stuff like that.

I would assume you can do something similar with Origins.

I'll buy it regardless, but if it ends up having a RGB ending im taking a bus over to bioware and chucking the CDs at the first intern I see like they are freaking ninja stars.

I'll buy ME4 if
- I'm interested
- It's already heavily discounted
- It does not require Origin

There is a strong story building a strong relationship with characters love or hate, and just good game play.

If I can have a Geth Squaddie!

I don't know, I would expect the game to seem like a real Mass effect game and radiate quality...

Tbh, I'll give them a chance to present whatever ideas they got and then I'll decide if it sounds interesting. If in doubt I'll hear what others have to say about it.

I love the mass effect universe and several of the characters created in it, if it's anything like the old Mass effect series but perhaps with a new story, then it could be very interesting.

I'm somewhat worried about the sledgehammer endings and events of ME3 though, that seemed to demolish half the galaxy and perhaps even whole species.

As long as it's an SP RPG with a fully customizable protagonist, then yes.

Oh God! not those endings ! Oh oh ..not that Origin! deff no ..

But i will however buy it if the main character can be both a male and a female and fully customisable , and yes i expect more than what we got in ME3 which was such a simple character creation which caused so much trouble , not being able to load the previous me games faces.

But you know what would make me instabuy ME4 or even preorder it? Exploration , just like in Me1 , going to planets yourself , exploring them piece by peace , the mako or anything similar (because that scanning minigame was an offence to mass effect 1 fans if you ask me , they gave up the main "thing" of a space game , which is exploration for what? for a scanning minigame most people hated anyway while taking away all the real exploration for resources or relic hunting or achievements hunting or simply the pleasure of seeing new planets and feeling them yourself and not just as a 2d image with a tag note next to it ..), because watching those skies with your very own eyes and going to those planets and uncovering relics as old as a millenia really gave me goosebumps and gave me the only thing i wish for in this life , to see the space in all it's splendor ,the good the bad the amazing and the unforgettable !

If I can work the story and whatnot into my creations/fan-fic.

Instead of just "living with" ME3's ending, I instead chose to make my own ending and continue the story. Right now I'm making my own version of "ME4" and if Bioware's fourth installation will help with that then right on! If not well then nvm.

Although I'm still wondering if ME4 will even be a Mass Effect game. Its already been said that calling it "Mass Effect 4" is a disservice, and it wont be a prequel/sequel/sidequal. BUT at the same time, the devs actually asked us if we wanted it to be a prequel or sequel. Idk what to think anymore lol

Can't foresee any circumstances under which I'd be interested in ME4 or whatever they end up calling it.

...if it is a sequel with save-import (not necessarily connected to Shepard)
