Look, it's dead. It's not coming back. There are some parrots starring in Monty Python skits that are more alive.

This is really sad news. Somehow the Nexus, despite its support, will never replace the ubiquity the vault had with the community.

Yes, its just an issue of lost DNS info...

(Fix Repost)

To edit hosts: load notepad, open file and paste
"C:WindowsSystem32DriversEtchosts." (minus the quotes) as the
filename, and it should open file for you :)

Next add
"69.10.25.55 nwvault.ign.com" (minus quotes) as a new line at the
bottom, save, restart your browser, and the Vault should be alive and
well.

Cheers!

I just tried doing a direct ip vs domain name swap in my browser, and I get URL not found.
Is this still working for anyone?
Thanks

You skipped the first step: You need to open a file named "hosts", which is contained in "C:\\Windows\\System32\\Drivers\\Etc" with the notepad, add the line aforementioned at the bottom ("69.10.25.55 nwvault.ign.com"), and save (remove the txt extension afterwards).

Then just load the Vault normally at nwvault.ign.com (don't write those numbers in the actual URL too).

The trick above works indeed. Anyway the Vault is dead.

I have registered to the New Vault and I'm currently informing French forums.

Would you advise to reload content or to wait for complete recovery?

I'd suggest waiting for recovery. The new Vault has all the data already, and we are rescraping things to get it into an api for faster (and automated) posting of pages on the new vault for all the old content. PainofDungeonEternal or Rolo could give a better indication of when, I'm just helping with the scraping.

Do you mean these patches? ;-)
The patches were the very first things I archived.

You could post it on the Nexus meanwhile. Actually, I hope people start uploading more stuff there now.

Thanks guys.

Ok I will wait for the complete recovery.

In the meantime I'll also upload Sarmates! on the Nexus. I'm not familiar with the Nexus. IIRC adult rated stuff needs some attention :innocent:, and not registered users can't download :crying:. Hopefully the form to fill won't be too complex ...

French main NWN/NWN2 forums informed.

Nexus registration is free, and download speeds for non-premium members are good. :-)

Claudius33.. Don't forget to set yourself as able to see adult content or you wont be able to see your mod that's what I did and wondered what happened. Also it wont appear on a brief visit when you're not logged in but it's no big deal and I actually prefer the nexus and how it's set up.

Please support the nexus. Lets not have favorites here, players will be on both the new vault and the nexus so we should have content on both.

If i have my way, i'll have a way to allow authors to publish to vault / nexus / dropbox with a single click. That way a bug fix won't be a big deal, especially if you have large files.

Ttat would be really great!

I had registered to the Nexus a couple of months ago. Hopefully I'll remember my password. Fortunately I'm aged enough to see adult stuff :)

I haven't been following this thread for a while, and now I'm lost in these many posts...

How is the new vault working? Is the old vault completely moved/copied here, or do I have to upload my mod again?
Maybe a sticky thread about the new vault would be helpful, otherwise many modders and players wouldn't even realize that there is a new vault.

The old Vault now has a prominent stickied post at the top directing people to the new Vault.

It is completely copied, but it will take some time to process it all and make it available to download there. It would help to upload your own work there directly.

I've been activating accounts quickly, usually within minutes.
However, there seems to be a problem with the mail daemon talking to certain email services ( notably hotmail/outlook). I get a ": delivery temporarily suspended: lost connection
with mx1.hotmail.com[65.54.188.72] while sending RCPT TO""

Short version: please us the contact form to get a temporary password from me if you don't receive an email when you register.

I just counted 176 members on the The Neverwinter Vault.

Is that the right number Rolo? Anyways it's pretty good going for the new venture.

<waffling...>

182 now, but it looks like about 50 are still waiting to log in :-(
Not sure what to do about that except to encourage them to contact me.
I'd let them self register, except they'd still need to confirm their email, and that's the sticking point :-P
I will *not* open the old vault gate to spam :-/

Hotmail/Outlook views you as a spammer if you send too many emails in a short span of time.

<just starts...>

Well, that would explain why it's not always blocked, wouldn't it.
Damn... First time I've ever been the spammER, rather than the spammEE :-/

edit: Looks like live.com is also part of the hotmail/outlook anti-vault conspiracy :-P

Yeah, AFAIK, they all use the same root filter to check incoming emails before routing them to the correct service. Too many hits to live, outlook, or hotmail in a short span of time and the filters mistake you for a bot spamming their service.

I did this and am able to load pages from the vault again!  I'm still slowly browsing  playing and voting and it seems to be working for now.  I've also registered at the new vault:  neverwintervault.org/  :)

After  posting this, I learned that there was something temporarily wrong with the vault and IGN fixed it!
