I bought the collectors edition and it says Shale is suposed to be available in camp? least i thought it did but he's not there? Do i have to go to the town and do his quests and if so why since i paid for the collectors edition?

The Stone Prisoner DLC is a quest that unlocks Shale as group member. If you don't have the DLC, then you don't get the quest. With that said, all new copies of the game got this DLC. The collector's edition gets Warden's Keep DLC.

I'm in the village and killed all the Darkspawn, but the villagers behind the barrier won't come out. What am I not doing?

Talk to the blonde guy with the ponytail behind the barrier.

right click on the barrier and you should get a cutscene after which the barrier will come down.

You have to click on a letter on a stand on the platform next to the barrier before Matthias will talk to you

And, incidentally, the correct pronoun to use with Shale is "she" and/or "it", depending on your perspective. "Him" is always incorrect, however.

be sure you go to a spot on the map that says ???? Passage or something liek that, its near the mage's tower, there is a guy in there that talks to you and gives you the control rod to start teh quest
