I never said ME3 was the best looking game of all time. Simply that, compared to the other two games, it's a lot more detailed and vibrant looking.

It is more detailed in certain aspects, you're right, but then you're wrong to say that the overall package is more detailed compared to 1 and 2, where there are hilarious examples of proving this the opposite.

Just because there are examples where ME3 is not detailed doesn't make it wrong.

ME3 is more detailed despite these examples.

Indeed. It was such a joy to look at all of those low res textures.

My favorite was the hands. It's like someone took Play-Doh, drove over it a few times, to get it nice and dirty, and decided it would be awesome to sculpt it into hands for ME3.

But I digress. They were just as bad in DA2, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

The characters bodies seemed disproportionate and the hands, oh God! The hands were horrible. Not to mention the glossy texture of literally everything. Seemed like everything was made of plastic or leather. I missed the textures of ME2 and the shading of ME.

Overall ME2 > ME > ME3.

Been replaying the three games for the last month or so (complete playtrhoughs) and is currently right at Sur Kesh in ME3. ME1 & 2 are just as amazing as ever, but something I especially noticed after a trilogy playthrough like this is the incredible attention to detail in ME3.

No, the graphics themselves are not THAT much better than ME2, though they seem to have an extra layer of polish that makes the game really nice to look at. Also, there seems to be so many more things in the enviroments of 3 to look at. The places you visit feels like actual places, instead of the (often) endless corridors of ME2.

Such a pretty, colorful and detailed game. <3

Agreed.

The areas are much more detailed than the previous games and it shows. I thought the ME3 looked fantastic.

On a positive note, I thought Tuchanka's City of the Ancients and Rannoch were both quite beautiful.

Metro 2033 was a joy to look at,

I watched a friend play that once, but never did pick it up.

I agree with the OP, remember that all the Mass Effect games were dsigned for  XBOX so they're limited by that technology.  Thus they are not the top-of-the-line as far as PC games go but even there, they are still a beauty look at at times.  There is the high-texture mod for PC that helps, I really like the upgraded Normandy interior and new computer console hologram displays and the high res armors really help.

I wish they'd had the time to do a high-res version for PC.

I enjoyed all the games visuals tbh. People nitpick way too much on the details from my perspective, probably because of the changes i've seen over the years. I haven't done that since Everquest, the first big leap for me from UO sprites to 3D *shrug* everything seemed tiny incriments by comparison.

Ah the philosophical answer! We create our own dualities! :)

That aside, the original quote was almost sig worthy, but I believe it likely not the OP's first language so.

you are compering the visuals of one game to its older predecessors?
to illustrate my point:Starcraft II looks better then its 12yo+predecessor.

Yes, ME3 environments are great compared to what we have seen in ME1 and ME2.

Imagine how awesome environments will be in new BioWare games, with all those FB3 next-gen possibilities :)

If you replace the textures with HD textures like the ones found here ( http://smarteck.imgur.com/ ), it really does look fantastic.

It does look nice at times but stuff like this just kills my immersion

I whould rather it remains consistant than switch between looking amazing to looking like ass

Final level? Just look at the first level - hell, since that was in the demo it was simply an epic fail that Bioware did not manage decent quality of the animations they were showing to the public to promote their game.

The more i think about it, the more i wish they had postponed ME3 for next-gen.

Yeah...no.

Things like these killed my immersion too, but other than that Me3 really had some very good enviroments, the lightning as i can recall was great too.
Me2 defenders have you forgotten how much corridorish some levels felt?
Have you forgotten that EXCESSIVE amount of Coffeymaking machines in me2?? There were instances where houses would have 2 to 4 of these machines! check mordin's loyalty, Horizon etc.
Speaking of horizon , that mission was ugly compared to how much better the collector ship looked (not speaking about artstyle but textures)

Mass Effect 3 looked great but they seemed to go for a darker look to fit the tone of the game.

I must say I preferred the vibrancy and colour of Mass Effect 2. Wondering around the SR2, Illium, Omega and the Citadel was an absolute joy.

Although i loved Sr2 now it feels TOO bright. I ll stick with Sr1. the best for me. Plus the music. and fewer elevators!! and NO scanning screen!
