Big ups to Slother93 for giving me, PaulS863 & SD5 the blueprint to breeze thru platinum for our first ever run. We played Reapers/Glacier and it was a lot easier than I anticipated due to Sloth. Think we finished in around 23 min. Can't wait to run it again...

I know a lot of players here having been playing platinum forever. How did your first platinum run go?

Who else has recently played platinum for the first time? How did it go? 

Everyone remembers their first...

My first game we wiped on Wave 7.

When I think back to what my Shadow build was, back then, I'm amazed I lasted as long as I did.

Glacier room of shame, didn't know wtf was going on, wiped early.

For realz, it was later with BW SI or Saber TGI I think. Extracted on Giant/Reapers.

Never did the Rio Box of Shame.

my first platinum match was on day 1, got dropped into a w/g/p public lobby as my SI valiant
back in the days white/platinum was as easy as bronze so it was a no consumable used easy 24 mins game

back then i was still grinding for my rares so i only played/farmed platinum for credit  (so i didn't care about it becoming boring as it was always the same easy mode set up) and played uug for fun

Started holed up in the Box of Shame. Not the best way to get started since it took roughly 40 minutes and multiple near-wipes. That was back when I first came back, though, so I had a really lacking manifest too.

First Plat was a wipe on Wave 3. I believe it took 5 games to figure Plat out and extract on the first day.

I remember being really nervous and anxious while the Plat game loaded for the first time.  That  calm before the storm...

first plat attempt was a week after it plat was released.
back in the ol FBWG days.
saw primes stroll into the lower control room, immediately died, threw my controller in the air and went fetal position for an hour.

First plat back in white farming days..geth of course. Didn't search for it but got thrown in wave 2. Full extraction but I didn't contribute much, and tre only reason we were able to finish is becouse stupid banshees were stuck on the counters.

It was a Silver PUG not long after Platinum debuted. Someone switched the lobby to Platinum and I had no clue. It was Firebase London, and I remember looking into the courtyard and seeing Geth Primes and Banshees and thinking "WTF?!" I would have sh** myself but I was already dead...

My very first was an accident. Never been a great fan of the Great Lord Claymore but decided as I now had it a X it was time to learn how to Claymoar.

Slapped it on the Krogard and went for a Bronze match to practice. Old FBW I can hear gunfire and a Banshee from the bottom control room and made my way down.

Right past TWO PRIMES WTF!!!!

No equipment not even gear but I have a Claymore so I stay. I was last man standing when we wiped on the Pizza delivery on Wave 10.

When I was moving from Silver to Gold I was friended by a very good player who kept the heat off as I got used to Gold then after four days said "Ready for Plat" lets go!

Took about 20 games to get comfortable but now enjoy it with good team mates. Wouldn't full PUG it, I can clutch a wave with the right kit but not all the time.

3 AHFers dragged me and my poor HE with Mattock (best gun I had at the time) into plat not long after I had moved up to gold. I think they all got revive medals. But they got me to extraction. Was a few weeks before I let myself get talked into that again.

My first platinum match was with a good team and they were coordinating on the mic. Didn't have a mic at the time. They changed the lobby to platinum from gold and I thought "let's try it!". I used a SI and I spent most of the time dead. They did the game by themselves and they extracted, while I didn't. Stopped playing platinum for a lot of time.

First time I actually played a good platinum match was some weeks later. I had become better at the game and got a mic, so when 3 guys asked me to up the lobby to platinum I said I was not experienced so they'd have to carry me, and they said it wasn't a problem. Thought about playing a Kroguard, but the vanguard bug made it hard to use off host at the time. So, after a lot of thought and advices from those nice players, I ended up running a harrier fury. It was dagger, against either reapers or cerberus, can't remember. We didn't struggle too much, the players were very good. I ended up pulling my weight decently. It was so much better than the first one. Also thanks to those amazing players, which are still on my friendlist and I still play with from time to time

LMAO you went straight up to platinum for the 1st match? Way to go!

Mine was that way, but I landed on Cerberus/White because I left my search on U/U/U. I quit when I died because I didn't know I came back after the wave was done.

Thx. Wouldn't have happened without Sloth; he got us all in the right spots, did a lot of spawn controlling and focused our efforts so that it wasn't difficult. I played a Volus Engie w/PPR, with 2 Geth Troopers & a Vorcha w/Acolytes. We all used Cryo Ammo & Invasive Scan Recon Mine to slow everything down. Really worked wonders. I've had Gold games not go as smooth.

My first plat was in mid-January when Ashen convinced me to take the plunge - also had Biggs and Tivesz in the games. Good times indeed.

True. I just kept thinkin..."we're gonna get soooo many credits if we make it..." The whole thing was surreal; it's the first time I played a match with such a strategy.

Is Platinum always like this, is complete team synergy totally necessary to be successful?

I'm yet to try it .. I can do gold with no problems .. if the team is good. If it's not, I can't carry them .. I can solo bronze but that's it.

I'd like to know what it was so I don't use it. I just got one of these 2 weeks ago, and fell in love with the melee build.

Depending on the team, map, and primary faction, more/less strategy and synergy are required. I figured that map and faction, with a good guide ( Slother), was a good way to break the ice. Unfortunately, they probably won't all be that easy!
