First time was way back just when Platinum was added. I searched for a Silver Match and for some reason ended up in the mid of Plat Wave 1; playing my Krentinel (Well, any krogan really) for the second time and my best weapon back then was a Phaeston 3.

It was White/Cerberus, and everybody stood behind the counters in the lower room, grabbing evrything and shooting the Banshees and Atlases from afar. I could barely understand what was going on, which was aggravated by the other 3 players talking a lot, and really fast in French (the only french words I know are "croissant", "abajour" and "Sophie Marceau").

Yet, we managed to last to wave 6 post objective; back then it made me happy for getting 60K so fast (I was breaking to silver, then).

Muuuuuch later, about november or december last year, when I was managing to extract in gold somewhat successfully, I heard about the box of shame and decided to try it and see if I could handle it. Ended up just going into the box twice in the whole match, although the whole team was constantly around it. It was a good team, and it helped build confidence, so from them to know I have been playing the occasional plat, though there are few maps where I manage to really contribute (Rio, obviously, Giant, which is the easiest map for me in any difficult, Glacier and White).

Another thing that helped me was the Lodestar chalenge; I managed reapers, cerberus and collectors in teh first; but it took me about ten games to successfully extract against the Geth (and I only did so due to lag, because I was down!). Platinum became somewhat easier after that, mainly because I learned the number one rule of staying calm.

Just done my 4th (last night) the first was a couple of weeks ago.

I wiped on wave 6 in my first (before the rest of the team did) It was on White.

I've since played on Hydra (Repears), Reactor (Cerb) and last night Cerb again on Giant. Extracted every time. 3 last places and a second so far.

I'm just using my trusty TGI/Typhoon at present until I feel more adventurous.

True. I just kept thinkin..."we're gonna get soooo many credits if we make it..." The whole thing was surreal; it's the first time I played a match with such a strategy.

No.  It's all about the DPS.  Synergy is nice, but experience is preferred.

Good to know. I've been worried about jumping in with my rares at IV & V and my URs at I & II. Last thing I need is to be tucking tail because I can't kill anything.

Huntress with the Hurricane (I use CSMG) is excellent for Plat but you're a bit short on Warp ammo mores the pity.  However you can prime stuff for others who do have WA to kill things fast.  

Valkyrie with Reegar, Talon or Piranha and Inced ammo but you need to keep mobile with her.

Those are my two favourites for Platinum.

When I got taken into the first "proper" game it took two hours before I could sleep afterwards I was that pumped with adrenaline and it was two in the morning when we finished.

Yeah, I run through warp ammo whenever I use biotics. Hopefully I can play MOAR platinum and get a bunch more in some packs.

Oh, and lolreegar. I played with it yesterday on a Kroguard. It is a mook melter.

Still haven't taken the plunge yet, but I really should just to fill my manifest faster. Gold is all I do now and I hold my own with most kits.

Haven't been dumped into any plat games either, but I do remember my first gold game. Getting dropped into Dagger/Cerberus/Gold when I was looking for U/U/B on my level 5 AA. Wondering why there are 2 Atlases *and* phantoms eyeing me up. Scarred for months!

Congratulations OP! Slother is a good player to have on your team. Matches will go smooth, especially when he hulks out and brings his Salarian Infiltrator/Black Widow combo.

1st time plat was with N7-Link, he solo-extracted, I finished 2nd on the scoreboard. Map was Firebase Dagger.

I prefer the Talon but then mines at X.  I'm not the biggest Reegar fan, I can and do use it sometimes but its rarely my first choice.

congrats OP, I always laugh when I think about my first time. I was with a good group and we were just destroying gold. They changed it to u/u/p ( I did't even know platinum existed) and I was also really drunk and thought hell yeah lets do it. We ended up in reactor vs. cerberus. I was using a SI with a widow IV. Wave 1 I remember seeing 2 atlases and think wholly sh*t what's wave 10 gonna be like. Then wave 3 I saw  brute. WTF a brute! I thought we were fighting cerberus? I was so confused lol. Despite that the game went pretty well , we made it to wave 10 and failed doing devices
Somehow I managed to top the scoreboard.
The next day the other 3 players sent me a friend request and after about a month of playing with them, one of my friends told me about BSN. I thought I was one of the best players in the game until I found this website. Then I found out just how little I knew about the game. I was a horrible player back then and I have no idea how my friends an I survived platinum

My first plat was on Glacier with a buddy who thought the (now locked) room of shame was a good idea. There were like three Banshees in the room when we wiped. I didn't play plat for some time after that.
My first successful was on Giant Hazard against collectors. I think I ran a MQI with Indra. I still like this setup for plat.

I extracted on Plat on my first ever go. Subsequent attempts have mostly been failures (like 90% fail). I've come to believe that extracting on plat with PUG's is almost impossible unless you are very fortunate to find yourself a good lobby. So I only stick to Gold these days, which is a blast with PUGs (mostly).

I must've done it wrong with the Indra, I tried it with a SI and totally HATED it. What was your loadout like gear-wise, and how'd you spec your MQI?

You sir are not crazy!      I believe that was a game where White Rider played as well.  I remember him posting about it in the thread asking if anyone had run into players from BSN in pug matches.    That was a good game.  I usually play with Slother, so we'll probably cross paths again.

I'd love to give a witty/insightful response here, but I think it's a mix of laziness and no desire to leave the comfort zone. Will probably suck it up and give it a shot this week.
