Slight bug: a02_07 has a missing texture. Also the walls using different textures with a seam at the tile edge looks a little bit odd. Maybe extruding out some of the building fronts by 10-20cm would improve the look there but its a very minor niggle. I also worry a bit about some of the under-faces of the geometry being missing, especially since there are tunnels involved.

Other than that, this is some of the finest work I've seen for NWN in a long time imo. Its nice that its got a very different feel from Zwerk's city. Just a shame there isn't more yet

thanks _six for the report. I will do what I can this week to polish it again. It somehow was clear to me that "not" everything was as polished as i thought... I worked 2 hours just to find out what other "misc" textures I had used for this one. It really sux to create a tileset in the middle of your other testbuilds...

thats just how it is.

Pure ignorance or the typical tunnel view which makes me not guilty?...

And thanks for the nice words :)

Wow, Baba, magnific work! I just finished to check the tileset and I can tell that is one of the best pieces I`ve seen in NWN!

It is so detailed and inmersive! However, what about the roofs of the buildings? I mean, your idea is to add them later or your concept is without roof?

Wow, this is absolutely superb!! It is gorgeous, flavorful, moody -- dynamite. I particularly love the sewer grates. Now, baba, yaga-ta do more when you can. ;)

I like what I see so far. Wasn't sure about the lack of roofs at first but, once I took the test mod for a spin, those concerns were washed away. Its moody, dark, and really fits in nice with the other content I use. I'm looking forward to the continued development of this set.

Thanks so many for your kind words :)

About the roofs i didnt leave them out by accident or was just to lazy. The way you can play nwn limits the whole vision of it. With a fixed camera i would have done everything that the player can see from down below. But the freedome of camera and the iso view just is to much to satisfy every possible way... think tilefade too.

The buildings are very high at times, the poor people just rampaged the district this tileset represents one time and took their place above the already established houses. This was literally a blodd bath! So everything on the old roofs is clubbed together and not safe at all. It´s the domain of the poor and criminals which place they defend to death. Thats a bit of background of the "nyrnburg" tale.

This part of the tileset i had in mind too just not fully fleshed out;)

a little note:
If a trader doesnt pay his protection money to the group in charge in this street he will die the common death from falling down ... money goes up and bill dodger down ;)

The whole thing is impressive. I had already noticed an outstanding level of quality in your work back with Coniferous Forest, and this certainly confirms it. It's realism goes beyond anything seen in NWN. I can't stress how much I love the textures in both tilesets.

I am begging you, Baba... reskin the original tilesets like this. As for the rest of the day, how about reskinning the dragons as well? ^ ,^

Well I downloaded and ran around in it a bit and I have to say that it is the best looking city textured wise that I have seen in NWN to date. While I was running down the narrow alley streets I started thinking about the HBO series Rome. Any way supper work so far.

I was looking and seen that this was posted about two years ago. Any chance that its finished yet? If not please don't quit on it. I would love to use it for my modules.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the feedback :)

It was never finished and is intended as a small tileset anyway. But everyone is welcome to modify it ;)

I stoped working on it because i had began work on another city tileset which is more the witcher 1 alike. Never released but i still have all the tiles.... :D

Dang your working on an even better city? WoW I really wish I could do that kind of stuff. I am guessing that it is far easier to make reskin haks. If so I'm really thinking of starting there. When I see the work that people like you, Zwer, and others are doing for NWN just inspires me to want to learn how.

Did you know how to do this kind of work before NWN?

How long did it take to learn how?

Any way I really do like the city you posted on here. I guess someone could always slap a roof on the whole thing and use it as a city built inside of a mountain or something.  :)

Thanks for the work your doing for NWN. There are a lot people out there that isn't on the forums and not being voice full who really enjoys the work you all are doing for NWN. I know because I was one of those people. But now thanks to people like you I would like to stop sitting on the sidelines and try and learn how to do something myself.

I can't wait to see your new city  :D

Thanks again :)

I started with modeling/ mapping back in 1998 and like many of us here i just learned everything by myself. Trial and error and testing things out. Starting with little objects, improving them etc. doing the first animations lol and so on. So what Zwerk said in his reply it´s good to start with placeable objects or some simple terrain modifications. I think the first work i did was to rework the hills in a rural/ forest combo and added the codi daggerdale swamp to it too with some enhancements and texture corrections. So just start with something simple and ask away when you need help.

The latest city tileset i might showcase in the near future. It will not be big and around the same size tilewise like the one here showcased. You are free to do with it whatever you want so why not starting with adding roofs ?

I kept them away because those buildings were 4 to 5 level high and the upper ones were open for the imagination... for me at least :D

Ok thanks _baba yaga I will pick something I would like to see in NWN and try and work on it. Who knows I may toy around with this city of yours but I will try something a little easier first.

Thanks for the insight.

It's quite fantastic as is, and I can't wait to see where you go with this Baba_Yaga. It has a very filthy feeling that I like.
