I don't like vanguards on principle because whenever I play with friends (most of the time), I'm not hosting (also most of the time). Vanguarding off host is just not an option to me because what is originally considered a powerful class becomes horribly weak.

Objectively, the worst is the Phoenix.

Subjectively, the worst is the Cabal.

The Phoenix has Lash and Smash, both of which are utterly useless to me. I often find myself getting staggered out of Smash - where are the Dragoons to teach this Phoenix how to go through Smash painlessly? And Lash just..I'm biased about Lash. It's saved me several times when other players have used it on an encroaching assault trooper that I didn't see but it also annoys me. Sometimes I don't actually see where the enemies go, which makes it ridiculously worthless unless the enemy is killed by it. Also, when I see someone continuously Lashing an armored target I want to scream :]

The Cabal...I say subjectively because I can't play her. I've seen others play her really well. I find myself getting into incredibly dangerous situations that I can't get myself out of when it comes to her, perhaps she doesn't fit into my playstyle...which is rushing in and thinking about it later. Unfortunately, later never comes with this character because I'm too busy bleeding out.

I was a scrub 8 months ago.

Vanguards were a lot of fun, sure they glitched through the map 50-60% of the time, but at least their biotic charge worked just fine. Also, the enemy never started a melee animation when you started the charge.

Now it is such a mess, you spam the charge, 50% chance nothing will happen, you loose shields and go down. When the charge does happen, there is another 50% chance that enemies will start their melee animation while you are in the charge.

Worst part are ravagers, they will cause you to loose all your shields the very moment you end the charge, even if their sack is already broken or not.

Vanguards are the worst class at the moment, due to the overwhelming number of bugs.

In under 360 hours/1000 games, too.

Considering he's on PS3, it does seem a bit suspicious.

I know it's actually one of the better vanguards but I have a really hard time with the Drell and (I just learned when I finally tried her out) the original novaguard. WIth the drell it's just the shield situation messing with me. I can compensate with cyclonics but I'm trying to get the hang of doing it without. The novaguard I just kind of don't get; they used to bug me so much that I never really got into researching the ins and outs of how they work. I did get nova canceling down on my first try (yay me) but not the repeat application.

To some degree I agree with Cyonan, the Pheonix Vanguard is kinda redundant

The volus has obvious problems and the Cabal has off host issues

I say the Volus to pick one

In my opinion, the worse vanguards are the ones that charge across the map and get down by a turret in less then 10 seconds.
