Why?

I dont like any of the Volus kits.  They have low health can't take cover or shoot over certain areas on some map.  They also glitch players with shield boost  (this is very annoying on platinum and has gotten me killed).  No need to get so upset we all don't have to like the same things.   

I'm not upset, I just wanted to know if you had a legitimate reason, and after reading this, I've come to the conclusion you simply don't know how to play them. 

More like I never cared to actually play them enough to master them.  I always thought they should not have been in multiplayer and wanted more salarians instead.  Its your favorite kit, I get that.  It doesn't mean everyone else likes or enjoys using it though.

Give me any Vanguard over the Volus. He simply doesn't offer the same damage output that other Vanguards do. Sure, he has his uses and hate surfing is funny, but I just don't like using him. I'm no fan of the Phoenix either, but I think he's pretty underrated.

I would put the Volus over the PV, on most maps at least. PV is too map-dependent, and it usually works against his favor. Bouldergard doesn't really care as much.

I played 10 games all of them some even 200 waves and I decided I dont like them.  By your logic to have a valid reason I have to play 500 waves with it 1000???  If something’s bad to you its bad.  It seems no ones arguements many of which are valid aren't winning you over anyway so whatever.

Phoenix Vanguard is miles above the Volus. The Volus is a terrible kit, because the powers have no decent synergy, Shield Boost is more annoying then helpful, and you get seriously impaired when there's any kind of chest high walls in between you and your objective like in Vancouver and London.

tl;dr The Volus is the only genuinely bad Vanguard.

I'd hardly say he's miles ahead even if you don't go for Shield Boost.

The Phoenix is pretty badly crippled on maps like Condor, even before you consider that high damage is his main thing and he's completely outclassed in that by the Asari and Drell Vanguards.

I would put the Volus as a close second, and probably give him the worst if not for Shield Boost but not by miles.

and  why should I torture myself mastering a kit that sucks???  You are just too butthurt to admit it is the worst vanguard.  It has the lowest health the least synergetic powerset, glitches other players, can't hop over or shoot over certain places on the map.

Not once in this entire thread have I replied to someone with a stupid comeback that didn't have an argument behind it (Not that i've discussed strategy or tactics with the Volus in this thread since it's never come up).

If you guys REALLY think the Volus is bad, look at the thread in my signature and try the build and strategy out.

Ok I can see what you're saying but I wouldn't agree that the Phoenix is crippled on maps like Condor, they don't help him at all but they don't gimp him completely. But honestly Smash is still rather underrated and does a very large amount of damage when specced properly. And to be clear the PV is tied with the Volus for my least favorite Vanguard but at least the PV has some kind of power synergy.

Volus. Because Biotic Orbs suck ass. It's funny and fun though going hatesurfing with Batarian Gauntlet, punching people in the nuts so hard that their heads explode.

A little incendiary wit dat refresh bonus, and we're talking about a seriously fast sequence of fire explosions.  I probably couldn't outscore a well-played Phoenix what that setup, but I enjoy my Volguard more.

 

Biotic Orbs don't prime. 

I know.  The Incindiary ammo primes, the Orbs give you crazy fast refresh (I take +1 orb and _5% refresh per orb.) So you set off Fire Explosions really fast.

your basic reason seems to be that no one knows how to play them.  I hardly call that a valid arguement against many of the good reasons in this thread that players have given for not liking the volus.

The Volus DOES have synergy. Cloak -> Charge, empty weapon. If done right, you'll de-cloak right around when your Biotic Charge cools down, and you will then Shield Boost since the enemies will then be paying attention to you. After your cloak cools down, you'll repeat the process.

That's correct, but level the playing field for al vanguards and pick based on that. OP asked not how can you make any vanguard work effectively, just which one is the worst?

You give the lolreegar to any vanguard and his damage output goes up. But I'll take a smashguard over a volguard any day if both have only a predator because PV has better synergy going for him
