Control: Cycle ended because shepard is controling the reapers, as evident by the epilogue
Synthesis: Cycle ended because synthetic and organics are merged, as eident by the epilogue
Unless Shepard has a reason to think that $choice is a viable way of stopping the reapers, you cannot pick it no matter what the epilogue says.
Destroy and control are both viable choices - it is clear that destroying or assuming direct control of the Reapers will stop them from killing. Synthesis, not so much, and thus Shepard would need a very good reason to pick this over a solution guaranteed to end the reaper war (and I don't think " the arch villain told me they are really the good guys, fighting the tech singularity" is a good enough reason)
