Destroy: Cycle ended because the reapers are destroyed, as evident by the epilogue
Control: Cycle ended because shepard is controling the reapers, as evident by the epilogue
Synthesis: Cycle ended because synthetic and organics are merged, as eident by the epilogue

That's as meaningful an argument as "know the winning lottery numbers" is helpful investment advice.

Unless Shepard has a reason to think that $choice is a viable way of stopping the reapers, you cannot pick it no matter what the epilogue says.
Destroy and control are both viable choices - it is clear that destroying or assuming direct control of the Reapers will stop them from killing. Synthesis, not so much, and thus Shepard would need a very good reason to pick this over a solution guaranteed to end the reaper war (and I don't think " the arch villain told me they are really the good guys, fighting the tech singularity" is a good enough reason)

Meh, bad writing is bad.

Sadly this is the crux of the problem, the concepts behind the endings could have been brilliant but they are wrapped in spectacularly bad writing.

Ask the occupants of the reapership hulls, I'd bet they'd fathom otherwise... oh wait, you cannot..too bad, they didn't pass muster,eh?

(i.e. not worth the time'n energy?)

Sorry I should have been more clear, this wasn't me saying shepard has reason to choose those choices (I can't create any shepard that would do anything other than destroy asa result of the Cat's crappy exposition) but merely pointing out the fallicy of Wayning's assertion that "only synthesis solves the problem".

Sorry none of my shep's really care about the opinions of the giant genocidal cuttlefish of doom, the whole billions of years of genocide on their part kind of nullifies their opinion in her eyes.

you trust the catalyst when it suits the Shep boss fighting?

the cat actually stated verbatim that destroy 'won't work' and also states that the harvested races will be recovered via reconnection to the MEU...so your argument is bias/mis informative..sorry

It kinda offended me when I learned that those hulls were slaughtering their way through the galaxy for billions of years and we were supposed to be next. If anything in there is still thinking, it either took part in that slaughter or is helplessly trapped. I don't regret ending it both ways.

The is one mind in a Reaper. Legion says the minds are uploaded and conjoined. Not kept separate. That's why Harbinger and Sovereign say "I" not we.

There is no canon, but it's clearly the best of the 3, unless Bioware was trying to trick us.

Synthesis is clearly not the "best".

then why are you fighting them? On general principals? Years of genocide AND harvest. Destroy actually 'links' you with the Leviathan..a known enemy of all other organics, and the root cause for the toxic spill that is the Catalyst and it's reaperships.

They couldn't care less either, as long as the reaperships are gone...it's part of their apex race priority. Shepard is a tool to them.. like TIM figures, in the end, that's all that Shep is good for.

Being a thrall is OK I guess..could be worse..but..Image IPB

(I wonder, do you think the star gazers are thralls? Could be you know...)

Untrustworthy source is untrustworthy. We don't know what the Reapers call "conserving" people. If we go by the Collector's base it is turning them into black sludge. However happy this sludge is supposed to be your right to exist is being denied by the Reapers because of a theoretical disaster you are not even allowed to be responsible for yourself.

The Leviathan's apex status has been kind of reduced by them having to hide on a godfarsaken place. In comparison to the Reapers they are a hypothetical threat at best.

nah, that's a Baatarian enjoying their burst sun... flash tan, etc.

value judgments are speculative... on 'face' value and not billions of years of progression through ideals. Like an instagram of information/ blipvert..

Doesn't change the theme so much as the emotion of that instant in time, relative to the impressionism.

the cat has NO right to exist because it states the rational for your rights of existence? Shep has to educate it, not disarm it.., or at least not in that order.

There is NO off switch, never was..the entire MEU calls for drastic measures. Destroy is an illusion. YOU are the reapers. Now that they're 'in control' you have to come above that stuff. Its the competition qualities of evolution that incurs the cause and effect ratio. And with the catalyst, you plainly cannot compete, as you DEPEND on it for your resolution of the crisis.

In other words, you're screwed... The cut scenes only include that you done some 'thing' and that 'things' will be rebuilt..but with what are they rebuilt with? Reaper Technology... oop's

I should immediately uninstall all anti-virus software from my computer. Even though viruses are harmful, that is not their fault, they only do what they were created to do and have no choice in that matter. That does not mean they have no right to exist, and I certainly don't have the right to unleash ruthless genocidal anti-virus software on them without even giving them a chance to explain themselves.

Actually Arg, I've installed over the years anti virus programs that were worse for the computer than the viree.. I uninstalled them and the drooping system recovered quite nicely. Just because it's a good idea, doesn't guarantee it'll work.

with windows I just use defender from MS..works fine..lol
