The endings just don't work with what came before. They break essential rules of story endings, abandon what made the games great. ME has prided itself in being for the most part consistent and bending the rules in moderation.
And don't insult Destroy choosers. It's a simple ending we understand, yes, yes, it is. Do you know why? It's because the ending is clear as day regarding what will happen and what the consequences will be. Wthout pulling anything out of personal headcanon, what does synthesis do, exactly? What are the effects of it? How is life with it? What is known of that before Shepard jumps the beam? The game answers neither with convincing clarity,
let alone before Shepard makes the choice.
It's sad to lose the Geth, but dead Reapers is how my Shepard consider victory in this war. He believes on a galaxy that rebuilds on its own terms, even if it might be slow. Also, it was a minute's decision once all options were provided. I dunno, but how much philosophy does a soldier do in a minute or two?
This is the one thing I like about the ending. All options are good in one way, horrible in another. There is no correct one, and all are a means to the same goal: ending the Reaper War.
