Just don't presume to think that others who do not like Synthesis are of lesser intellect.

I think the correlation goes the other way: those of lesser intellect are most easily attracted to Destroy, as it's the simplest and most obviously safe.

Ladies and gentlement... The reason Xilizhra should not be taken seriously!

Haha... This kind of thread are my favorite: full of trolls, the OP is an etnocentric **** and a lot of pseudo intelectual idiots.

If that's the case, can we just develop a ray gun that transforms the Reapers into spears of asparagus?

Because, y'know, science-fiction.

No, because nobody likes asparagus. All the science-fiction in the world won't change that.

I like mine in a butter, garlic and herb sauce thank you very much. ;-)

Well that's damning with faint praise.  Gimme enough butter, garlic and herb sauce, and I bet fried husk leg would taste good too!

No, that would require bacon.
LOTS of Bacon.
Than again, anyone mixing bacon with fried husk should be shot.
:D

Seriously though, I love the idea of transhumanism, of becoming one with tech. but on my own terms, on my own pace and definitely on my own volition.

Besides, I still have issues with taking a "preferred" path chosen by an AI that is essentially broken with coding containing an absolute. That absolute being "synthetics *will always*, as opposed to "most likely", rebel against thier creators.

Nothing in this universe is absolute, well maybe abject stupidity and death.
Well maybe not even death.:P

The OP amuses me.

People disagree, so they obviously lack understanding.

This should be BSN's signature.

It applies pretty much to nearly everyone in these forums not matter what ending you picked. We are so up our high horse that anyone who disagrees with our own opinion or choices  is considered 'low intellectual' or 'lack of understanding' ... or just plain stupid.

I find to be funny and interesting that this blind hatred only exists in the english part of BSN.

If I switch to my native language (which is german), I see discussions done with arguments rather than "attention whoring", virtuel screaming, insults and things like "stfu" "gtfo" or "you are stupid".

It is ok if you prefer an ending, but pls explain why you prefer that over the other without trying to convince the others.
It is an absolutely valid thing to say I didn't understand Synthesis so I chose destroy or something like that. Or the other way around.

I personally love that the endings are so "from out of nowhere" and that some decisions didn't even matter in the end.
This makes the story itself more believable to me. This war is bigger than Shepard and there are things that are too big for him, like Thane tells you in his death bed.

I certainly don't understand Synthesis in all facettes but discussing with people helps me clear up things time after time.

Personally the green eyes even if just a visual thing are a turnoff to me coz somehow it implies individuality is lost. Still chose Synthesis on my first playthrough.

What I find amusing is that a lot of the people getting insulted by the OP's attitude in this thread are off in others spamming green waffles, or encouraging those who do. I consider that behavior to be every bit as derogatory as what this thread is doing.

I don't think anyone should be hated, or considered less intelligent, for their ending choice. I'm guilty of this myself sometimes - I can't fathom how anyone could pick Refuse, knowing how it turns out - but I'm working at it and hoping to get better.I hope one day to see value in all the canon endings, regardless of how much more highly I value some than the others personally.

Fact.

This right here is a prime example. No discussion, no reasoning, just throw poop at the wall and see how bad it smells.

If you want it to be accepted, yes. Although replace 'scientifically accurate' with 'internally consistent'.

You know what the most glaring issue in this board is to me? It's the factions. It's not enough to express your opinion, but you're also obligated to declare all the possible others nonsense. Be it characters, endings, games, personal take on BioWare.

The endings just don't work with what came before. They break essential rules of story endings, abandon what made the games great. ME has prided itself in being for the most part consistent and bending the rules in moderation.

And don't insult Destroy choosers. It's a simple ending we understand, yes, yes, it is. Do you know why? It's because the ending is clear as day regarding what will happen and what the consequences will be. Wthout pulling anything out of personal headcanon, what does synthesis do, exactly? What are the effects of it? How is life with it? What is known of that before Shepard jumps the beam? The game answers neither with convincing clarity, let alone before Shepard makes the choice.

It's sad to lose the Geth, but dead Reapers is how my Shepard consider victory in this war. He believes on a galaxy that rebuilds on its own terms, even if it might be slow. Also, it was a minute's decision once all options were provided. I dunno, but how much philosophy does a soldier do in a minute or two?

This is the one thing I like about the ending. All options are good in one way, horrible in another. There is no correct one, and all are a means to the same goal: ending the Reaper War.

On "Refusal" ending, the very first time I "chose" it was minutes after downloading the EC, fired up my pre-Chronos save, did Priority Earth and got to Glowboy.

Upon seeing it, I did what anyone who hated what it stood for did, I shot it.
*Boom!*
Critical failure.

So I reloaded and redid from the Beam up. This time I listened to the Glowboy and for each of Glowboy's argument for its choice, R, G, B, Shepard had a valid counter cumulating to that awesome "Refusal Speech".
This was the Shepard I played for the past 5 years (now 6).

Up to that point, I was like "FRACK YEAH! IN YOUR FACE AI!" then, that scene replayed itself ... "So be it."

Mission Critical Effing Failure.
Why would I *still* choose "Refuse" even knowing how it ends?
It would have been my honest, non-meta gaming choice.

It would have been *my* Shepard's choice.

Apparenty, I am not alone in thinking this way. I have played my Shepards in various ways but always, being his or her own person. Unbroken, fighting to the last.
The three R, G, B choices *forced* me to play what I perceive to be a broken man/woman both in body and spirit.

Hence, now I choose MEHEM. It got rid of the entire Starbrat and anything to do with it.

It's not perfect, would like a *true* sacrifice choice that would allow Shepard to die in combat too, but hey, Bioware isn't going that route.

As for Synthesis, fom day one no one has ever answer satisfactorily how Synthesis would prevent beings from creating *true* Synthetics again and thus start the cycle anew.

Think about it.

Unless the ore, minerals and plastics we create are *all* synthesis aware anyone could say create a self replicating race of robots who are NOT part of the "Synthesis" order.

They would not share understanding nor would they have Biosynth bodies, thoughts or "feelings".

So, again, how does Synthesis solve this chicken ad egg issue? Build a tank, give it an AI, does it automatically become a Biosynth? How?
You see the problem?

EDI explains it just fine for me. Did you download EC? Bioware clarified it there, it's not headcanon at all.

Even if we are still able to make "pure" synthetics, they will no longer be capable of surpassing us, which was the problem. As organics we were limited in what our minds could accomplish. As "biosynths" we are not. EDI makes it clear that we now have limitless potential - the same limitless potential that only synthetics enjoyed before as they left our meat sausages behind in the dust.

Synthesis solves the problem by leveling the playing field. The nature of the solution is not that we can no longer create robots, the solution is that we no longer need to.

Agreed 100%.

As for the original poster:

And then he wants us to consider his words, and give Synth a chance,
only thing he is doing is put Synth supporters in a bad light.

He doesn't want us to consider his words and give Synthesis a chance, he wants us to accept his word as law and accept that Synthesis is the best choice.

I don't agree with the merits of his argument, in this thread or in others, so clearly I am someone who is beneath his contempt.

How is that any incentive to make the choice? That is told after Shepard makes the choice. We are given no choice but to trust the Catalyst or refuse. Destroy is clear enough, and we are told much of what will happen and what will be the consequences.

I am not saying Synthesis is wrong, but my Shepard isn't incentiviced to choose it.
