So you get new players coming in all the time, having finished Insanity SP and thinking they can waltz into the MP on the highest difficulty...
Also, I think Platinum might be the default difficulty and you have to specifically change it in the search menu?

It'd be nice if in upcoming ME MP there were certain criteria you had to reach to start playing silver, gold then platinum.
I said that too but many here dont seem to agree should made a set number of extractions on each difficulty or something.

A) don't know what they're up against in Platinum
C) just want the credits and figure they'll get carried anyway

Because this, and because of something called "any challenge".

Game just needs to match people relative to each other's "level" like Halo 4, starcraft 2 (ranked), iracing, etc. Next game will hopefully have more polish
They tried that for a short while. It was godawful.

If you like hour-long waiting in the lobby, it's a good system. Biower did try something similar with N7 rank-based matchmaking.

I would never kick a new player, never, it doesn't matter if they come with an Avenger 1 on my platinum lobby, I will carry them, is not good when their first impression of a game is having difficulties finding a game to play, I would ( and I have several times already ) carry the new player and explain them the differences between difficulties, also some times I even add
I agree with you; admittedly I don't play a lot of Plat. But I feel the same in gold. Sometimes they are there just to see and give it a go and I often enjoy their company.
The ones who are just there for you to earn them credits show up in the game play; I leave them to bleed out, and concentrate on the others.
If I'm really not in the mood, I leave and find another lobby.

arent you a nice guy. I should have joined your games back when I was a newbie so I wouldnt have to do lots of Rio reaper box camping with a low piranha for weeks

I'm a scrub and I died the expected scrubby death, but I cost no one (not even myself because, get real, I don't want to spaff limited supplies on such a horrible outing) any consumables.

The problem was they made it too strict. At the time I was around 1500 N7 and I was helping a friend who had just got the game. Whenever we tried to set up a match, it took 10 minutes to find another person and everytime they where within 10 levels of beig exactly between our two levels. If you were playing by yourself, it was better, especially in Gold (the highest at the time). Unless you where in the top 1% or so, then it was pretty much impossible to find a game since how many people with a 15,000 N7 level are on at a time.
Good in theory, they just needed to loosen up the constraints a little. Or better yet, just put it was an option that the host can decide whether or not to use. But instead, they scrapped the whole thing. Am I the only one who thinks that even that system, as flawed as it was, would make finding a legit plat. game much easier than it is now?

Are new players really that dumb or are they just getting thrills trolling lobbies with their level one Avengers? Been having issues all weekend into tonight with players trying to get into games with a weapon that'll not help at all...

It's not just that. If you downloaded Earth and Retaliation before ever playing the game, the default setup is Unknown/Collectors/Platium.
Newbie trap.

In those other games I wait much less time to fill a lobby actually than I do here.
Halo 4 (Spartan Ops) - There really is no "lobby" per se. You simply select the desired mission and you are immediately paired with other experienced people around your range
iRacing - This one has no lobby either but rather you show up at the time of your race. Players are grouped together based on our iRating. So newbies race with newbs. The professional ranked racers get to race with their peers.
Ranking systems create a smooth experience for players because you are grouped with your peers around your same experience levels. Rarely does a veteran player actually desire to carry around a Day 1 character.
The best option is to allow hosts to set restrictions on their lobby. Additionally, N7 is not a great measure of experience. Instead they should use the "Number of Games Played" stat which is essentially what Halo 4 uses
iRacing has the best systemn of all though. But I do not expect any game to near that one in the area of polish. iRacing actually de-levels players for unsporting play and making too many mistakes
