To this day, we still have a ton of fun playing both Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games and Champions of Norrath on PS2. Also, the Lego games. The ones before they introduced the weird rotating split screen thing.

Hmm, I presume couch game means console?

Well, I don't really play console since quite some time and I don't think I ever palyed some CoOp console game either.

But I can say that among all the games I've played that worked on a CoOp principle, ME3 MP (on PC though) is my favourite. That is however not a great accomplishment, as I've almost never played more than SP up until now.

I always prefer solo and rarely even think of co-op. Though when I do play with someone else it's often a silly game like Saints Row the Third or Resident Evil 6.

It's a term that means two or more people in person, same room and console, etc. Before this silly internet fad thing...

If you have 3 friends who each have a Game Boy Advance and the GBA to Gamecube link cables required, you can play Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Zelda Four Swords Adventure in 4 player co-op. And my god, they're some of the most fun I've ever had playing games with others. As for games with co-op that are much, much easier to readily play with others, there's Timesplitters 2 & 3, Perfect Dark, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Contra III/Super Probotector, Resident Evil 5 and the New Super Mario Bros games. (when we aren't all trying to kill each other) The Tales of franchise too, if they count.

Wow, so many to list...not sure I can even remember them all. I'll just mention games I've actually played.

Champions of Norrath
Champions: Return to Arms
Hunter: The Reckoning
Gladius
Lost Planet 2
Gears of War 1, 2, 3
Resistance 1 and 3 (2 didn't have co-op)
Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage
Dynasty Warriors (only played one, but not sure which)
Half Life 2
Hunted: The Demon's Forge
Resident Evil 5 (and 6, I guess)
Portal 2
Borderlands 1 and 2
I know I'm forgetting some...

If we're talking LAN or online co-op, I'd have some more to list. My husband and I play a lot of co-op games together, on separate tvs/xboxes.

Anyone who forgets to mention Perfect Dark has no soul.

Aside from PD, i also forgot to list SW Battlefront 1 & 2, Timesplitters 2 & FP, and Advanced Wars Dual Strike.

Demon's Souls

I thought about adding this, but we didn't actually play it as co-op. My hubs and I both had our own characters, and played them separately.

Brilliant game; one of my favorites of all time.

I'm mostly a single-player kind of guy but here's a couple I've played an enjoyed:

Army of Two games(not particularly revolutionary or anything, but still enjoyable)
Champions of Norrath
Portal 2
Borderlands 1 and 2

Out of all the games my hub and I played as co-op, I think the one that I had the most fun with was BF:BC2.

Even more so than Borderlands 1 and GRAW2.

There's nothing like taking on an entire team all by ourselves and finishing with an incredible kill/death ratio and topping it with a bunch of dogtags to boot.

Smash Bros and Mario Party - do these count as co-op?
Eh, I guess Contra ReBirth and the Metal Slug anthology are more along the lines you're talking about - though I've really spent much, much more time playing the first two with my friends.
Wait - we've also once rented one of those New Super Mario Bros games. That was a lot of fun, too.

Played Portal 2 on co-op with the best. We work together really well.
