My fear is that Bioware/EA will use the official ending instead of MEHEM when writing the story for ME4.  The official ending is so horrible, I doubt anyone can write something I will enjoy unless they base the game hundreds or thousands of years after ME1-3 and just kind of forget about it all together.

Though, its not like I am going to buy it anyways, so I guess I am just rambling on for no good reason :P

its not a sequal... ME4 is not going to be in the timeline after ME3...

If I like it, great. If not, it's nothing to worry about.

It will be released. That's my biggest fear.

Meh Liara will be fine... She'll be the Shadow Broker. Even if new players meet Liara in the game they'll never know who she really is. Unless Bioware is dumb enough to mention it in the codex.

You really want a new team of BioWare writers to ruin your headcanons?

I no longer fear ME4. I welcome it, as the final end of the wretched thing.

It's hard to watch this unnaturally restless corpse of a once truly great series shamble on.

Example. Destroy is chosen as canon and it is years later. What if you either A) hate all of the endings and don't want to be forced to pick it or B) picked something that wasn't Destroy?

...

Well, they better get it over sooner or later. They will have to do it to put this or another game in the same universe.

My greatest fear would be villain inflation aka trying to invent an enemy that's even worse than the Reapers.

Better to tone it down.

Not really a fear. More of an inevitability. I think ME4 will be very, very linear. Think ME3 times 5. More shooter way less RPG. This is where the series is heading. Count on it. Shooters= money. EA luvs money. MOAR money!!!!

Yep my fear is choice and player characterisation will be stripped out to create a horrid linear shooter.

the devs said one, that if we think it must be a sequel we're not imagining enough...and..they said it's not a sequel in that Shepards story is OVER.  In NONE of what they've said have they indicated that it won't be set AFTER the events of ME3...just that it doesn't necessarily HAVE to be a sequel and Shepards story is over..which goes hand-in-hand actually.

let's not make **** up and put words in BioWare's mouth..but thanks for playing.

learn to read better without making up meanings behind something

That's pretty much the oposite of mine. Had enough of Liara to last a life time. But it would be fine if she is in the game somewhere along with the others I actually liked...

Cerberus being the main antagonists - Maybe this is just me, but there seems to be a bit of forcing Cerberus upon Mass effect. :/

The only Krogan in it are evil b*stards, no cool squadmate or ally Krogan like Wrex and Grunt.

Blue Suns and Ecplise? They don't exsist anymore, it's just Blood Pack now! (Something that, admittidly, irked me about Paragon Lost. :/)

I personally loved the everything that dealt with Cerberus from ME1-ME3.

Actually, it appears that Cerberus became that big because the fans wanted it to.

[...]we had to leave things flexible enough for us to adapt and change depending on how everything evolved. For example, Cerberus was never that important in our initial plans - they were just a small, throw-away group of radical humans we could use for some subplots in ME1.

But Cerberus struck a chord with the fans, and when I wrote the second ME novel I decided to dig into the group a little more. TIM was born, fans and the team loved the character, and we just ran with it.

That's so crazy that they really had no plans for them beyond ME1...considering how they were a part of so many side quests.

I wasn't around back then...so I am definitely glad that other fans liked the Cerberus "side plot" of ME1 as much as I did...and helped make them a big part of ME2 and ME3.

I'd be more afraid that they spend too much time dwelling on the old game instead of trying something new and different. They should do it Final Fantasy-style and have a different story with different characters in a (preferably) different timeline, but keep the same universe.

Please never ever make Mass Effect anything like a FF game, cool that some people like it, but i just can't stand FF or anything JRPG-related and it's not like people that like them dont already have enough to chose from.

You have to consider that they destroyed the Reaper plot by occupying valuable screentime we could have spent about the actual antagonist. There is nothing in them that adds to the main story arc which is a big problem in terms of how much time in the game remains to untie the main plots aka come up with an idea how you define and beat those guys.

It's possible BW ran with them beause they had no answer to their main plot.

Cerberus plot in their own ME series? Ok. Cerberus infringing on the Reaper plot? Problem. Resources are obviously tight in game development so they are imo a major distraction.

To each their own.

I always wonder why no one complains about fighting nothing but indoctrinated Geth throughout all of ME1...but they complain about fighting indoctrinated Cerberus agents in ME3.

I like Final Fantasy, but I think it would be a terrible mistake from BioWare to go that route. Final Fantasy has IMO decent stories (well some games at least) but incredibly weak characters. I love Mass Effect mostly for its characters and the universe, I would never play it because of the game mechanics (except meaningful choices). I like Final Fantasy mostly because the challanging game mechanics. In Final Fantasy, I love hunting rare weapons and pushing my characters until I can exploit the game mechanics in a way that I can take on secret bosses that are so overpowered that I'd normally never stand a chance.

There is a vast difference in storytelling,
The indoctrinated Geth were what you faced in the final confrontation and very mission before and they were always part of Sovereign's faction and thus the main story. Cerberus' indoctrination is part of an entirely different plot that goes nowhere and never connects to the main plot at all.

Just consider that you fight Geth all the way from Feros,  Noveria over Virmire to Ilos in league with Saren and being in direct opposition to you. Now tell me what Cerberus is doing all over the place that somehow is part of the Reaper plot? They mainly stand in the way and do **** all but are constantly elevated to be your main enemy when they aren't.
