I expect a first person shooter, set during the First Contact War, with Anderson and Kahlee Sanders as major characters. A vast amount of emphasis on the roots of Cerberus and Saren Arterius. Possible nods to the existence of the Reapers and the Geth crossing the Perseus Veil, although anachronistic and unnecessary.

My fear is that Walters is involved in the writing of it but that's already been confirmed so I guess we're screwed.

I don't want to see a prequel.
I don't want to see a alternate universe.
I don't want to see the game take place directly after Mass Effect 3.
I want your Mass Effect 3 ending choice to matter in a universe fifty thousand years after the Reaper War.
I want to see creatures like the Varren evolve.
I want to see the Yahg as the main enemies.

For some reason I have it in my head that they're going to turn it in some kind of detective adventure where 50% of the game is walking through rooms clicking on stuff. Like Liara's appartment in LotSB, or Bryson's lab. Or crap like distracting guards in the casino level in the citadel dlc.
That would be one boring game.

Well, it's one of my fears.

My fears for ME4 (if thats the title) is that when it comes out the fan base hasn't matured or grown up.

*sigh*
Never thought I'd miss the ME2 debates and remarks.......
oh how time makes fools of us all

I always wonder why no one complains about fighting nothing but indoctrinated Geth throughout all of ME1...but they complain about fighting indoctrinated Cerberus agents in ME3.

You didn't get the memo? ME1 is perfect and all changes made the series worse.

Well, if this post is an example of the maturity you wish for us to strive for, thanks for setting the bar so very very low.

I fear that there will be no passion in comes to making the game and it will just end up selling out to the man.

I fear of the story won't be strong enough if it is a sequeal, like the reapers come back or something like that. Also being worried about location I don't want to be limited to a small area for the whole game, I like traveling to a fresh location and having a huge map to roam around in.

Any ending being canonized.I wish to import a lot of characters that chose different endings and are very diverse and I'd like to see how their decisions affect Mass Effect 4.

What does that have to do with anything?

My fear is that there will be no Shepard. That the crazy ME3 ending will never be completely explained and that I'll never get to see the awesome Normandy Crew with my Shepard again. My other fear is yet another bad ending with no good choices. That if it is an all new crew and hero it will only be a stand alone and not a trilogy - not enough time in a stand alone to really feel for the characters involved imo. One of the reasons we loved Shepard and crew so much was the fact that it spanned over more then one game!

Incorporating the player's choices increases the amount of distinct content that has to be produced to account for the consequences of those choices. With the choices made at the end of Mass Effect 3, things as simple as the fundamental nature of life in this galaxy (Synthesis) or whether there is still a human race (Refuse) can be different. Some choices have also eradicated major races of the previous games (Destroy) or would mean their drastic expansion compared to previous games (curing the Genophage, sparing the Rachni Queen twice). For the developers to devote the requisite attention to all the possible outcomes would mean exponentially more content with each iteration, and therefore more man-hours and money have to go into it.

The unfortunate thing is, many players would never see quite a lot of this content. They'd be chucking money and work down a hole, never to be seen again. Wasteful.

1) That the Reapers will be back
2) That Shepard will make an appearance (except one of Liara's datapacks)
3) That it will canonise ANYTHING
4) That it will be during the First Contact War.
5) That it will be a shooter,
6) That it will be first person *tear*

That it will be a prequel. Prequel is the easy way out, meaning that there's a bigger chance they will do a DA2 and use (what seemed to me) 90% of the resources on "zomfg! b3tttah console kombat!!!!1ozomfog!" instead of a good story. It's the story and character involvement that makes me replay DA:O and the ME series.

I already have a feeling that we won't even be able to choose dialogue for our characters. Considering it's the Montreal team, who worked on MP and Omega, there's most likely going to be too much focus on Combat.

As much maligned as the ME3 endings are, I have to say that I'd be most interested in being able to play as my surviving Shepard if I wanted to, and have all of my previous choices be imported, but Megaton_Hope makes a good point about how much content may have to be produced for that to happen, but I'd like to think that there's a good way to go about this. I like 3's combat mechanics, but I'd like the story to remain the strongest component over combat, and bring back some of that planet exploration stuff. Even if it's not the Mako or Hammerhead, this is a scifi universe. There has to be something they can come up with in terms of new vehicles.

I'm going to take a wild guess that a lot of people are going to clone their Shepard in whatever new human character they can come up with in lieu of being able to import their character from the trilogy campaign.
