That Bioware blindly follows fan feedback instead of doing good game design.

My worst fear is that he game will hang on DLC and that the peopel responsible for how ME3 turned out are still at the helm of development of ME4.
Another thing I fear is that they continue down this"dumbing down"line, ME1 was more RPG than shooter, ME3 was more a gears of war clone, I am affraid that the next installment will be even worse and have an even worse story and conclusion as ME3 had.
I fear that there wil be no improvements on any level except mayb some graphic updates.
I fear that Bioware will go down the drain, maybe not financially but on a creative level they are not "up there"anymore..at least not in my book... which is a shame since I have fond memories on their old stuff

Well I certainly won't fear the Reapers...

On a more serious note

It was poor game decisions that lead to all the fan feedback.

Personally the only unworkable ending is Synthesis - everyone sharing the same conciousness make for a poor rpg. And I mostly fear that it finishes it's transmogrification into Call of Gears Effect.

I have to say I would probably not consider the game either if biotics were cut. I fear the further dumbing down of the conv wheel as well...

An Anakin-esque prequel story for the Star Child.

The galaxy trembles.

My "fears" are:
- It is going to be a prequel: I'm no fan of prequels (doesn't mean it a prequel should not happen) when it comes to the ME universe. I do not get a good feeling on the idea of going back in time to early as the First Contact War, while the First Contact War is an interesting background story of Humans making first contact with another species, It doesn't hold my intererest as the "War with the Reapers" did. I will not take an enemy serious while the Reapers are still alive, because they do not matter when it comes to the Reapers. And I already know what will happen in a prequel is that it will not matter when it comes to the Mass Effect trilogy.

I know nothing has been confirmed on what the next ME game will be about or what time it will be set in, but my example of the First Contact War is just a general idea of my fear.

My "hope" is:
It will be a reboot with no Reapers or a sequel: (Or at least a Universe where the Protheans destroyed the Reapers and survived or died due to small population) I am in favour of a ME universe without the Reapers, then I can pretty much take any story serious.

So long as the Reapers do not exist, I'd put up a banner for the next ME.  While stupid as what I have written may be, it is how it is.

Full kinect integration. "Why play with a controller when you can play with our crappy motion sensor software that doesn't even get half of your movements right?!"

Probably my biggest fear. That's what ruined Fable completely for me.

Motion controls need input feedback to truly catch on. With a controller, I know when I've pressed a button or moved the joystick - with motion control, I'm never sure if my last flail was done poorly, done correctly but at the wrong time or wrong position, or if there's some problem with my setup - and if the latter, is it simple device calibration, positioning, a software bug or an outright malfunction. And flailing more to find out pulls you right out of the immersion of the experience.

When a controller makes our character behave unexpectedly, we've been trained through generations of gaming to deduce the underlying problem lightning-fast. And of course, there are fewer possible problems with a controller than with a motion sensor.

If they can fix that problem with motion controls (I see it as being even more critical than precision/accuracy) then we'll start to see it used in more hardcore titles.

I doubt they'd take out biotics, at least not without replacing it with something comparable.

They're the "Mage" class of this RPG and it is against the holy laws of the Bioware RPG universe to not have some type of mages.

According to OXM (June 2013), the new game has Hackett in it and he's preparing for a new threat, so it's not too far in the future. I expect some cameos, but not from all characters.

Edit: Don't actually own that issue, but some guy who has it said so on Reddit. Take it for what you will.

I don't fear anything..... Well, except Super AIDS. You get some of that stuff in ya, kiss it goodbye.

But back to "Mass Effect 4". As if it's gonna be anything resembling the trilogy, especially 1 and 2- cause you know those are kinda RPG's...... But ME4= More shooting less RPG elements, Less exploration, linear (even more so than 3- I know that might be hard to fathom but just think about it a little), fewer squadmates and oh yeah.... It'll be a prequel. Or a sequel set millions of years after the events of ME3, therefore completely negating and/or canonizing a particular ending choice of ME3.

I think many if not most of these things will happen in ME4.

There are a few "fears" I have for The-Game-That-Must-Not-Be-Referred-To-As-Mass-Effect-4

1.) That it will be a prequel

2.) That it will be a MMORPG

3.) That it will be a prequel

4.) That it will be a MMORPG

5.) That it will be a MMORPG

It is acceptable since they create a 5th end for game. :?

I'd guess there can be NO connection to ME3, as they've endlessly stated that Shepard and friends are NOT around any more for the next installment. That would mean no Hackett, maybe someone like Hackett. There can be no associations from the ending of ME3 without inferences to the choices/choice made/canon blah blah blah of it all. Just the star gazer ilk, possibly.

I'd guess the Leviathan would/could possibly be around yet, as they're kind of not touched upon in the previous story line, other than they still exist, some whatly. But then so does the Rachni, but they're still reliant upon the 'choice' of the ME3 processing.

It's that head canon stuff. How can we write our next installment?

Too much multiplayer, too much CoD-inspired FPS, low production quality, and not enough of the choices, RPG elements and story-writing we enjoyed so much in ME1-2 and parts of ME3.

^ THAT is my fear for ME4.

I do hope for better combat of it being its own design instead of Gears of War influence.
