I've come across a lot of warlock rewite forums over the years while building my pack. From Pathfinder to D&D. But all but one I've found have a few things in common. So I'm putting this to the community, see what you folk think.

The warlock is strong, don't get me wrong. But, like anything, it can be improved:

Increase in skills: Most bump the warlock's skills to 4 + int, same as the dragon fire adept. This would allow for a more "rounded" warlock. Or allow better for specific builds.

Adding Diplomacy as a skill: it never made sense to me why it wasn't already.

Increase in invocations known: This is a tender balance issue, especially with extra invocations. Some rewites do eldritch blast shapes and essences differently than invocations. This can only be feesibly done in PnP. What I would suggest is one more invocation per level, granting an additonal spell at levels 7, 12, 17, and 22.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

With the demonic heritage warlocks, intimidate seems like the proper one of the three social skills to grant. Fey heritage could be more diplomatic I suppose, but a fey that would be a power source for warlocks would likely be otherworldly enough that they wouldn't necessarily be diplomatic. I've personally viewed the Warlock as more of a outsider (because of their demonic/fey ties if nothing else) and thus not really diplomatic as they would tend to lack social graces, but this is subjective and depends on how you view people who have the class.

As far as skills, the Dragon Adept seems to be a kind of "dragon based warlock" based on what wizards.com says the abilities are, so giving them 4+ sounds like a reasonable change that puts them in line with the Dragon Adept.

That's a way to look at diplomacy for warlocks. A fiend or a fey would be more likely to trick or scare one to do what they wanted, so I see your point. And, aside from adding in aberrant and celestial spells, that's really what most of my spells tie into.

On the skills, I wouldn't want to increase the points for the prestige classes, make it sort of a "hit" to take and reward staying on the path. Like a barbarian losing skill points if he becomes a frenzied berserker.
