I actually had that once when I was a kid, with a different game though, after a long-long LAN gaming session. I walked outside, saved and proceeded to walk out on to the road to see what it's like being hit by a car - how well it's done. Sounds scary, but it was a really-really long session and I snapped out of it in a second or two.

I don't think that can happen normally, really. I mean, the fact that it happened to a nerdy teenager after spending half a day in a dark building, playing the same game the whole time doesn't mean it can happen in a "normal" case.
