My favourite is when randoms who've been silent the whole game thank you afterwards profusely for clutching like a bawss.
This happened to me the other day....whole team wiped against Cerb on hacking mission on Jade...Atlas's dragoon' and Phantoms took out the whole set...it turned into revive fest in that hack, but i killed all of enemies and had to deal with a host of guardians....i was using the phoenix vanduard, so it's so much fun taking their shields away one by one.
Even if know i'm fighting Cerb, i will still not use AR ammo, just so i can strip those shields away....i played like 5 games with that group that struggled, but hey they had a great connection, and i will carry anybody that has a steller connection...

Ahaha, I'm playing this setup when I feel masochistic. Still it is fun, I enjoy using this character a lot more than, say, the TGI+Harrier setup.

Then it was just me. Me and my N7 Eagle against several marauders, two banshees, at least four ravagers, a brute, and God knows how many cannibals. My hands were shaking by the time I faced down the last banshee.
My most memorable recent one was during Operation Lodestar (Insanity) and clutching my first platinum wave. I was so flippin' proud of myself, I even created a post about it. lol

THE NEXT DAY running uug with 3 buddies. used volus sentinel. got FBW reapers. clutched out waves again due to disconnections and lag issues. i'm afraid to use this kit again unless i'm ACTUALLY going to solo with it. always fun clutching with a volus though, pugs never expect it.

Everybody died on 1,2,3,4 on Wave 10, so I got the last 2 devices. Then I went and killed everything; 2 crabs, a few possessed abominations, Scions...
When the announcement came that we were down to 1 enemy (a Scion) I got super jittery, cuz I had no gel left so I was preparing to spam Ops packs if necessary (Hi Jeremiah!). I got him and felt a boulder lift from my chest.

I did have an amusing extract last night though. It was on Rio, the entire team had gone down to Phantom sync kills. I had been hanging out at the far end, and started moving to the LZ, running fast as I could past all the phantoms and managing to avoid them. Everyone knew I was out of rockets. I got to the LZ and realized I was too soon, 40 seconds left to go and 5 phantoms dancing toward me. No way I could take out 1 of them quickly, much less 5. I danced in the LZ as much as I could until they finally killed me. Then I laid on the ground, pounding on the space bar for all it is worth to extend my life. At the last second I gel, survive an attack during the invulnerability period, then use an ops pack and survive two more attacks.
Lone survivor extract.
The team was laughing hard at it, teasing me that I had let them die on purpose.

That probably happens to everyone first. Just take your time, finish enemies one by one and it will be like a walk in the park...

Or, alternatively, run away and spam rockets.

Ended up having to clutch most of the wave myself. I was dancing around the last Atlas and had no gels left. I make a stupid move and take a rocket to the face, down I go. As I'm mashing the A button, the Atlas dies to Dark Channel DoT.
I get up like I planned it that way.
Word.

A couple had mics and everyone was good humoured and getting stuck in.
I was ending another wave with my Fury when a female voice shouted "hostaman is awesome" as I downed the last Atlas.
I'm no top player, but yes I enjoyed having my ego stroked for a change.
3 of us made it to extraction including the girl with an N7 of about 50.

Friendly environment helps a lot, it eases the tension. I, for one like talking about anything but the actual game when clutching.
If someone starts talking about my playstyle when I'm clutching, I get nervous and I ask them to stop until I am done. Some warnings are always welcome though.

I was in that game...I was the SI. That match was messed up. I felt awful that you got stuck with clutch after clutch after clutch. I fear I didn't make a very good second impression!
It seems to be the curse of the Volus. One of my first Plat matches, I had to clutch 3 of the 4 wave ten devices with...you guessed it...a Volus. I went out in a blaze of glory three seconds later, but at least we got paid.

In one of the later waves, a banshee was feeling needy and pretty much picked up/killed the other players. I was already having fun running around like an idiot reaving and throwing grenades since I enjoy playing the Drelldept on that map. When I was the last player, the other guys started chanting, "clutch, clutch, clutch!"
I think that was one of my better performances with the Drell. Just kept running around killing things. Didn't have my mic on, but I could hear them through the TV. They were cracking me up with some of the stuff they were saying. We all ended up extracting, but that clutch wave was fun.
