I would say it was actually the change to Glacier that resulted in Rio farming.d_nought wrote...
RRP only happened because FBWGP got nerfed

It is more annoying if you get particular objectives.Jack Crapper wrote...
I hate Condor more, but Rio sucks. Is it as bad as FBW/G/G of the past?
I don't like Rio in any random game for that reason honestly.

Along with the nerfs to smash and slash you used to be able to hide in that room on glacier and beat platinum in 30 minutes with slayers and pheonixs. It went even quicker if you brought a justicar. People forgot how easy camping was before retaliation. The rio farmers have it rough compared to before. Now it takes 45-50 minutes and the objectives can be brutal. White and glacier where so much easier and faster back them. They also used strategy and teamwork like the single player. It seams Bioware wants this team coop to be as individualistic as they can.

I suppose camping is a legitimate strategy (there is a shirt for it after all), but I think the coop they were going for were combos and synergies resulting from character composition.parico wrote...

I have been revisiting ME2 and ME3 and you have to camp. I find it annoying since I learned how not to camp in multiplayer so I am getting killed more in singleplayer.
Many out there arent using the combos.. Its kinda sad all biotics or a shadow paired with a paladin or Aui is devasting. 4 biotics can clear most maps on platinum in 25-30 minutes. There is no need to hide on rio.

Rio is actually a good thing. It keeps most of the people wanting to farm in one place. Now I get pissed when I drop into 10 Rio lobbies while searching or the game puts me there randomly but overall the map is a good place for people to farm and not pollute other games which they have no business being in.
This. Honestly, I think the "solution" to farming is to just change the search function rather than try to fix every individual strategy that happens.
Imagine if you could search for U/ Not Rio/Plat.....that would solve the problem honestly.

So, maybe you should not expect bioware to alienate 75% of their multiplayer fanbase just to make the other, puny 25% happy.
Besides, if there is one map which needs removal over all else, it's Hazard Glacier.
Asking for a good map, which is not farmed by the majority (75%) of the players, to be removed is just plain stupid and those suggesting it should feel bad.

Brojo once said that 75% of the games happen on bronze/silver. Rio is great fun if the "box" is not exploited and on bronze and silver it is indeed not exploited.

It was also was stated that only 1% of successful missions occur on platinum so an even smaller group play that difficulty.

Cerb - Reactor
Reapers - Hydra
Cerb - Giant
Cerb - White
Yet to see Rio (on PS3 at least)
Must admit Giant was the easiest. Usual spot near the LZ.
Just my luck to become good enough for Platinum just as the top players are leaving

@ flibber: hope we don't get that one pug who said we let our N7 scores go to our heads running around the map on plat. guess we didn't know that there's ONLY ONE PLACE to camp on Reactor. anything else is heresy...
Well pugs what can you do?? fortunately the bossy pug with a mic is a rare breed i've only had the misfortune of playing with a handful of times... I always let my N7 rank get to my head i mean it is 3000 and something ****es.

Then look at the opposite end of the map. The boxes and the tower things, awesome for CQC and killing everything from behind a right hand corner without fear of anything hitting you back.
It's a shame the spawns are so terrible on Rio, the map is just too big, hard to control spawns and unless you are playing a long range character, snipers, PPR, then chances are you wont be killing much of anything. Vanguards work too, good mobility assuming you don't start glitching out, but oh well, I just refuse to play Rio.

Too much hate for Rio on this forum ... I wouldn't want to lose any playable content. I'm on PS3 and i don't want to lose the Collectors either ...
Rio matches take an extra 2-3 mins on average due to the size of the map. And the "box of shame" is a ridiculously overblown concept, there are 3 boxes that can be hidden in, not 1. These only prevent synch-kills, not regular attacks. So anyone hiding in these areas for any length of time is dead anyways, as all the smaller units approach.
That end of Rio has the most objects that can be used in the game for soft cover and RHA. An infiltrator paradise (esp if you have HM or geth scanner). Plus the most ammo boxes that spawn multiple grenades ... if they really wanted to cut down on the # of Rio games, they could have modified these ammo crates to only provide 1 per .. that would have made a difference.
this!! whenever I drop into a plat lobby and it's Rio/Reapers I run the enemies around a merry chase in that back part of Rio laughing at my teamates who cower in the box to hide from a banshee and get taken down by a hunter who snuck into the box that they didn't see, and anyone who lives after that gets DoT'd from the banshee. that box is a huge cluster****, but it's weird sometimes I rely upon my cowardly teamates so I can just dish out unending punishment upon whatever has them trapped in there. Rio is a really nice map in my opinion, I really enjoy the long sightlines meaning you can put a lot of high-powered rounds downrange but you always must look out for the enemies who can do the same.
I dropped into a U/U/P pug and got Rio/Cerberus, and you know what we did? we stayed on the spawn side and split into teams of two just mowing down every mook and boss that walked those long walks towards us. we had 3 destroyers and me on the huntress, so it was pretty easy mode already but it took us like 17 mintues instead of the usual "cower in box while juggernaut draws all the aggro". if you want to have fun on Rio, try that. I guess it's still camping, but it feels like you really are fending off wave after endless wave of Reaper forces that way. just as lore intended
