Alright before I get into this. this cannot becoming an IT thread. Please. Lets just look at it from an objective standpoint. I don't want it to get locked.

So I was playin Leviathan again, as I'm doing my insanity playthrough with my vanguard shep. Anyways, In byrson's lab, when using the computers about the murders there is a message- "IN.CTRN8". Saying this out loud you get: INDOTCTRNeight. Indoctrinate.

That is all.

Well, it's pretty damn obvious everyone is getting indoctrinated in that DLC- Shepard is just too retarded to notice it, despite being around it for the past 2 games.

How many indoctrinated people has Shepard interacted with that acted like the Leviathan's thralls?

So acting all vacant, standing around and talking weirdly isn't raising some little red flags? At the very least, she should have said, "Hmm, these people kinda remind me of those salarians on virmire" or something. Instead it's "Oh these people are just acting a bit funny lol oh well"

It's been a while since I've played it, but I thought Shepard's behavior was more suspicious than that.

But you encounter Rana Thanopsis in ME, and you can let her go/kill her; you can encounter her in ME 2 (if alive); and [SPOILER] you read that she killed a number of asari officials and then killed herself while in custody (IIRC). She didn't act any differently than a normal person; the salarians you run into in ME have been indoctrinated fast, removing their cognitive abilities. The miners in Leviathan act completely different.

To the OP's point, it's very clear that BW thinks they're funny. They considered an indoctrination story line and said they abandoned it. And then did force the abandonment of discussion of it-not all "head canon" is equal, so no speculation for all. And this when it seems obvious in the core game they left a lot of stuff around that pointed to it, and maybe now tried to tease people with more things that could point to it.

The whole idea of thralls (enthrallment being the organic form of reaper indoctrination) does lend to a discussion of it, but that's not allowed.

What we have really is pre-reapers that were created in the image of someone's gods, the Leviathans. Indoctrination is a constant in ME, enthrallment drives it home and points to its origins. How that applies to the endings is left to head canon. Too bad, really.

The difference between enthrallment and indoctrination is in the scope, strength, and long-term effects. This is related to its organic or synthetic use, but the idea is basically the same. Mind control for something that is pernicious to the controlled person.

I found the rEApers very capable of making a ME4 where they say: you were indoctrinated! HAHA! Now play my "Ender's shadow" game and save the day. By the way, 90 bucks.<_<

Yeah shep was so retarted in this one I mean the guy's assistant shoots him afters screaming in pain then sheps all ? And I'm like, "Damn dude that guys indoctrinated get him!" I'm faster the C-sec :police: Shep again has the same problem when it comes to the miners who are so monotoned they sound like they've been watching Barney and on way to many drugs nonstop for days yet shep keeps going, " Hey guys you ok?" and seeing this a mile away I go, "DUDE! THEY'RE INDOCTRINATED!" Seriously shep has never been so moronic with all the red flags he STILL wants to get Lev.

Rana never was indoctrinated she just had a questionable moral compass as seen in Okeers lab she sees no problem in killing people if it furthers some great ground breaking research.

-- The Leviathans evolved mind control capabilities and perfected mind control technology.

-- The Reapers were build by the Leviathans, and thus have some of their capabilities.

-- The Leviathans are using their controlled outposts to research new means of mind control.

And this is IT evidence?

...

Okay. Whatever floats your boat.

Since a couple of scientists who didn't even know who they were figured out a way to block it, clearly not.

Nope. The Reapers were made by the Catalyst after the Leviathas were killed, and in the case of Harbinger, from the Leviathans.

-- The Leviathans are using their controlled outposts to research new means of mind control.

They were using one outpost to run experiments. The assertion that they have more and are researching new means of mind control (which would contradict your first assertion), is complete conjecture.

She was indoctrinated the entire time. It is revealed in Mass Effect 3 if she survived in ME1. (she can't be killed in ME2)

Here is the email you get about it:

ANN Alert: New Article on "Indoctrination"

From: Alliance News Network Information Partners

Thessia - Asari scientist Rana Thanoptis has died in custody, allegedly committing suicide after she was arrested for the murder of multiple asari military officials.

Prior to her death, investigators said Thanoptis spoke of voices in her head, which they believed to be indicative of her indoctrination. The voices foretold the ascension of the asari--and told Thanoptis that anyone fighting the Reapers "needed to die."

Thanoptis worked for a top-secret project for former Spectre Saren Arterius several years ago, where she likely became indoctrinated. She received a pardon from the asari government in exchange for providing research assistance on Reaper technology.

Thanoptis was believed responsible for planting a makeshift device that detonated at a research center, killing five visiting asari military officers along with four civilians. The attack seriously wounded a dozen more and caused significant damage to the facility.

Investigators say they are not seeking any more suspects in the case

Thanoptis is a perfect example of slow methodical indoctrination. I perfect sleeper agent if you will.

You mean when reading about the murders committed by indoctrinated people? Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me.

She still doesn't do anything about it though. Kinda wonders out loud then goes on her merry way.

It's like Arrival where it's so blatantly obvious everyone is indocrinated but Shepard has to act stupid for plot reasons. Not good writing.
