Ah don't underestimate silver or overestimate silver players. Defending the LZ usually involes tons of medigel and opspacks.

Silver can get pretty hairy. Especially if you're playing to grind a challenge out and you're thinking it's a milk run because lolsilver.

I totally dig it with people you know, especially when you're going head-to-head for high scores. The inevitble Dragoon rush on Platinum is very much a Joker-In-The-Dark-Knight-"Here-We-Go" moment. But with a bunch of randoms holding their guns backwards ...

... blech.

When a team of pugs is bad enough to try and hold the LZ it means there's been a lot of carrying involved, so I let them know they shouldn't be there over the mic, if they don't listen I no longer care as they can enjoy the 75k free credits while I get full payout. I couldn't care less about the XP.

I understand that credits are awarded to the team (everyone gets the same amount of credits).  So, to be clear:  10% bonus to credits no matter if partial, full, or Lone Wolf?  Could be a good chunk if a platinum match.  Worth at least one missile!

From the notes for patch 4 - 'Successfully extracting from a match gives 10% bonus credits. This
reward does not depend on your squad members – you must extract personally
to get the reward.'

Iam the same way, once we get the money for wave 10 I don't care about my teammates anymore.

Unwise, if it is a good team (I mean if there's sinergy they may be good for another match), plus some very good players tend to take extraction waves personal and if they die they won't play another game and ragequit afterwards.

I've been seeing a lot of this lately too. And it isn't bad or new players. They are all doubling or tripling my score, have Piranha X shotguns, etc. They are kicking butt throughout the entire game. Then the extract comes along and they race to the LZ, while I'm at the other end of the map trying to look inconspicuous. Rarely will there be a full extract, and there is always a death. I even got kicked after a game for refusing to participate in their Alamo strategy.

I don't care about the score, so I usually hide cowardly for 1:30 minutes somewhere quiet across the map. If snipping, I try to help out fellas from afar.

Only LZ I may try to hold occasionally is Giant's, but that one is easy as hell, and can be managed even on plat.

Most who do that are newbies. A lot of times, you see a vet playing babysitter due to trying to be "kind". Mostly a waste of time IMO. Sometimes someone playing a juggernaut goes to the LZ. Not the best tactic but understandable. If the juggernaut was useful and expended consumables such as rockets and medigel, i'll go help out. Same with those who race to the LZ.

If they are all useless, i leave them for the bugs and killer robots but the real funny thing is that many times, the useless ones suddenly remember where the medigel and rocket button is

The guy says "GET TO THE EXTRACTION ZONE" and everyone listens to him, then they die. In all the games I've played the announcer never gets hurt so it's easy for him to say. He's a sadistic one for certain.

Haha so true. It think it is a clandestine rerun of Stanley Milgram's experiment. How many times must a PUG get killed camping the LZ before he learns to disobey the VOICE OF AUTHORITY.

When I'm usually playing well enough that if a noob is following me like a lost puppy, he'll stick w/ me as we stay far far away from the LZ. 8/10 times the LZ campers are dead & lost puppy and I are extracting safe & sound.

Anyone in lz is on their own. Unless I actually need to extract for a challenge once I die I stay down most of the time. Especially on glacier extracting from it's a pain.

It depends on the map, the team and how many rockets we have. Maps like rio and giant we tend to camp either at the LZ or in front of it which usually works out better than running past phantoms, primes and banshees. Maps where the LZ doesn't have alot of cover or doesn't have good choke points we move as a unit.

With "quality" PUGs its a no-no. With a good group of friends it can actually be fun. I agree with that.

I'm not gonna front...depending on the group, i'll hold the line at the LZ, because sometimes those moments can be incredibly fun,...for the most part tho i stay away from the LZ, i'll start to track back over there when the timer drops to 20 seconds.

I blame the damn announcer. When I get back to base I'm going to have a word with him. He's always yelling in my ear piece to get to the extraction zone! Telling me how little time I have left on any objective. He's very bad for morale.

Re the extraction wave, why do I not have a clock at times for that? does it have to do with joining in progress or having a host leave or something?

It's probably both. Host leaves, newcomer enters a game in progress and will not have a clock.

Starting on bronze back in the early days of mp I was under the impression the shuttle would come only if the lz was defended for the stated time. May be the newer players think the same..?

That said I do my best to stay alive for extraction. No one jumps into a fire just to be part of the crowd right?

Had this happen a couple times last night.  Just had to guess by the announcer how much time I had left.  Very annoying.

I'm seeing more and more of this LZ camping, and even in silver games it tends to get you killed.  Had a gold game last night on reapers/hydra with a volus who scored sub 25k, I don't know how it's even possible to score sub 25k in a gold match.  I'm not really sure how we managed to extract on that one, but we did.

With the right people and right map LZ camping is do-able.

General PUG team as they (anything from 1-3) run towards the LZ. I'll warn them not to. Some times you get two do anyway and the other usually the smarter one (next best score) will stick with me. Then when the other two are both down he feels guilty and goes to revive them. And usually goes down as well, if he was good then I feel guilty if I don't go and rescue him. Depending on how much Gel & Cobras I have left, I might come in like a Feckin' Hero to save the day.

Or die trying.

If I'm out of Gel they're on their own.
