POLL

I was just curious, nothing deep or philosophical or anything - between the main villains of the Mass Effect series - Saren, Sovvy, Harby, TIM, and (yes - he is a main villain) the Catalyst, who do you think had the best voice? This is regardless of the actual dialogue given.

NOTE: I decided to also include DLC villains. I included the Shadow Broker and Leviathans as well since I'm guessing everyone on the forums has at least seen videos of them.

I liked Sovereign the best because he didn't give threats - what he said was certainties. However, Harby would be a very close second for me - I'd love to have Harby as a GPS voice. Hell, Reaper voices in my opinion were even better than Bane from Dark Knight Rises.

Anyways, what do you think? Poll included.

Harbinger. It was... almost enlightening. It made me feel the Reaper power.

Saren, Sovereign, and Harbinger.

Went with Saren in the poll.

I like Saren's voice a lot. It's menacing, but with a "holier than thou" sound to it. It's almost how I imagine Dr. Doom's voice when I read Fantastic Four. Great stuff.

I'm confused - in your poll, you're asking us to vote on the voice alone, not what the characters say. But it sounds like that's what you've done? :P

Anyway, this was a tough poll. I started out by eliminating the two DLC villains and Harbinger, but then I had to really think. Ultimately, I decided it couldn't be a synthetic, since all the finer shades of villainy is intertwined with being evil or cunning or arrogant or all kinds of other human emotions that a synthetic voice is normally devoid of. Of course, the deadpanness or matter-of-factness can also have a chilling effect, and Sovereign's voice can even, arguably, be described as arrogant, but ultimately it's not as villanous as an organic's.

So it was (almost) a toss-up between TIM and Saren Arterius. In the end, I went with the latter :)

Edit: minor typo corrected

Lol my bad, I meant that the way he spoke was as if with certainty, as opposed to Harbinger sounding threatening. Sovereign didn't give a f***. But you are right, perhaps the dialogue there influenced my impression.

Harbinger: A much more crisp, evil voice -- though that probably had more to do with advanced audio technology than Sovereign's VA. Still, was the more compelling of the two reapers IMO.

Martin Sheen is an amazing actor and I loved him in The West Wing, but his voice isn't particularly "evil" (though the character is).

Sovereigns voice is not that good imo, just a lot of heavy distortion and filters. When I vote for a good villian voice, I go for one who I could recognize without computer assistance.

Harbinger and The Illusive Man come to mind, Saren defiantly for me. The others, no. They are just too reliant on distortion filters for me to like.

Sovereign, Timmy, Harbinger and the Shadow Broker.

It's at polls like these I wish Martin Sheen and that awesome voice of his actually got some lines that weren't completely retarded in ME3.

The Illusive Man's lines were fine...He's not 'retarded' for not wanting the Reapers destroyed and having his own plans.
