I just do my thing on extraction expection most people know not to be there. When I see that's not the case I may mention something but that's about it. Even then I just make sure I extract as its tough depending on PUGS. On other waves I do my best to revive as much as I can but on extraction I am very careful because if I revive one and he keeps on going back to the LZ when we still have a minute I just leave and keep myself alive.

20 sec left pull out rockets and run to them, if need be fire to clear and youll be their savor. They will have no idea you were busy eatting a sandwhich while they were busy getting thumb blisters aimlessly duking it out in the extraction the whole time.
EDIT: if they give you @#$% about not being a team player, feel free free to laugh at them for being a dumb player sitting in THE main killzone for 2 mins straight.

But in general, I just leave the players to die in the LZ, particularly now that there is a credit bonus for Extracting. Before I would toss my life away trying to help.

I don't even both reviving them half the time anymore... unless they're one of those UR good PUGS or they're very close to me... or if they have a mic and they're talking. I don't even view anonymous PUGs as people anymore... they're AI controlled bots with no rockets, medi-gel, etc.
Cynical I know...

See, I don't think it's evil. The best way for them to learn is for them to watch you in Spectator Mode as you extract easily without using a single Gel/Ops/Cobra. You're actually helping them by letting them die.SvM madman wrote...

Still, I can never resist helping the fools at the LZ. I never go straight to the LZ, but I usually find the closest spawn point to them, clear it out, and sit there to prevent more spawns and take some of the heat off of them. It's never appreciated though, because if a Dragoon or Phantom sneaks up behind me and downs me, none of them ever come to revive me. I don't think they understand what I'm doing, and I think they think I'm just off "ramboing."
Also, it's Silver. Holding the extraction zone is viable on Silver, and in games where you have 4 decent players, it's often the only challenging/exciting part of the match.

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what PUGs are? I assume it's other players by the sounds of it? Also to compound on how stupid I seem, I camp in the extraction zone it normally works for me mainly because I use a sniper a lot of the time so whilst everyone else has run off, I can pick off enemies from a distance without fear of being swarmed because they nearly always go after the other team members. You all seem to say this is wrong though :L which is fair enough I've never been good at games but could someone explain why? Sorry again for not knowing!
Because it draws enemies to the extraction zone, and for some reason the game likes to spawn enemies very near the extraction zone. So you end up with a never-ending conga line of enemies, including bosses constantly swarming the extraction area. This often times leads to excessive use of medi-gel and rockets.
The better strategy, is to sit on the complete opposite side of the map, lure the enemies there (killing only what you have to), then running to extraction with 20-30 seconds left. This will leave you with a nice clear extraction zone, and no one will get dropped with 1 second left on the clock, causing them to lose their extraction credits.

So, like all experienced players, I camp on the opposite end of the map untill 30-40 seconds are left; then I run to the LZ with my rockets in hand.
More often than not, lone survivor

but the team who tries to hold the LZ is often completely clueless what they will be fighting next 2 minutes...

If you have a mic let them know that it's a bad idea.
But certainly don't feel obligated to go into the clusterf*** to try and save them if they don't listen.

When my teammates camp the LZ, I normally shoot enemies from the flank. If it's too dangerous, I let them die.
Some listen, some don't. If it is a group that is somewhat inexperienced and I've done well in the match, after I say something over mic, they sometimes follow me to the opposite end of the map, where we shout and carry on (shoot at bad guys) until 30 seconds prior, then I'll say over the mic, OK, everyone head to the LZ. Get a lot of very easy extractions that way.vehzeel wrote...
I usually tell them not to go to the LZ until there are 30 sec left.
If they don't listen, then I will fire at the bad guys from a distance, to distract them and prevent them from maybe overwhelming the LZ, then I'll get out my rocket launcher and head to the LZ, ready to take out any big critter that might be in the way. Not as easy, but usually at least three of us extract that way, but sometimes I'm the lone surviver.
Before I got in the habit of bringing out my rocket launcher for the trip back to the LZ, I've run into a wall of bosses/demi-bosses between me and the Alamo, er, LZ and failed to get in the circle in time. Lesson learned.

Unless the people you play with aren't even halfway near competent, in which case ditch em' and let them learn the hard way.

Giant is one of the only exceptions to the rule. The LZ is fairly easy to hold, if you're good.
Banshees and Praetorians tend to screw things up... But against Cerberus and Geth at least, I'd say a fair few LZ areas can be held in addition to Giant. Maybe even most of them.
Glacier can be held, with two on the door nearest to the LZ and two on the other side around the entrance to the control room.
Dagger darkside can be held, of course. I mean, teams usually hold that sniper nest the entire game, so...
Reactor... you need someone near the LZ itself watching the right passage, someone in said passage in the little side tunnel thing, and two near the reactor door. It can be done.
White can be held with two near the ladder, and two covering the nearby control room from the doorway of the rearmost stairwell.
Condor can be held with two on the hill covering that horrible low corner deathtrap area and two on the high ground near the LZ itself.
I've never seen a group bother to do it, but I figure Rio and London LZ areas can be held.

On plat i always tell them but that's rarely the case becasue most of PUGs who played with me on plat didn't camp at the LZ on extraction.

I also despise "that guy" who decides to poke his head out of cover with 2 second left before extraction (usually against geth) for a kill that doesn't matter. What he gets instead is 12 rockets, 4 prime blasts, and other random fire to the face...dropping him instantly and making it a partial extraction. THERE IS NO NEED TO KILL ANYTHING THAT ISN'T INSIDE THE LZ THREATENING YOU LIFE, STAY IN COVER. That's all
