Vaporize is the ending with the best long term consequences. When I say long term I mean on a time scale of thousands toeven millions of years but the worst short term (decades-centuries).Why?Just ask Legion. He said that using and accepting others technology blinds you to alternatives.Vaporize pretty much destroys all technology and we got most of technology from the Protheans and Reapers.I believe there's an example of this that affected the Reaper War.We could crash into Reapers at FTL because we learned FTL from the Protheans' ruins and the only "blueprints" we got were ones where they had safety measures.

Vaporize also seems to support the fact that the strongest survive. Those who survive a post-Vaporize scenario would certainly be the strongest. The Starbrat also said that Synthesis is inevitable and that means we'll achieve Synthesis on our own terms.

Maybe you should vaporize yourself. That sounds like a good ending for all of us.

Not at all. It was really more of a wry joke than an insult. That's hard to get across with text, unfortunately.

That's what I assumed.

I will admit to being fond of the Vaporise ending. It really lends itself to a "Victory At ALL Costs" storyline, and the space-battle cinematics are a LOT more desperate. (Destroyers are swarming over the Crucible as it docks.)

And Hackett's final narration is as bittersweet as it gets...

I wouldn't bother even going that far just to get the vaporize ending. I'd just play ME2 and have my entire squad die, and keep the Collector base for TIM to exploit, which will just lead to our demise anyway.

I actually just experienced the lowest EMS Destroy ending after completing a full renegade playthrough of the trilogy. Earth was scorched. The relays went nova. Normandy's door begins to open but the scene cuts away leaving it ambiguous. Hackett had a completely different monologue. And a lone soldier picks up a scorched helmet.

While sad, I thought it was a traditional dark ending of the genre. (It isn't my favorite...I simply think it was done well)

Agreed.  It's a true bittersweet ending.  Almost everything was sacrificed to stop the Reapers, but they managed to survive.
