I'm not sure.  I thought it was a candle on top at first, too, which is why I did it along with the dwarven lamps, but the texture used for the "candle" part doesn't look anything like the dripping wax texture used on all of the other candle textures.  Instead it has what look like painted stripes, so my second thought was that it might be a decorative handle.  I don't remember seeing it in the Witcher game, so I don't know how it was used there, and I haven't seen something like this in the real world, which could help me be sure.

Since it looks like it has a candle at the top, my guess is "hanging goat skin" is an oil lamp, with the goat skin as a container for the oil.

If so, then it's a poorly designed oil lamp. The flame from the candle would eventually burn through the leather strap holding it up.

None of you are right; it's a troll's basket ball.

The bit sticking out is the hilt of a knife belonging to Seji the Black who rammed it in there when the balls owner, Zulgeteb the (also) Black, scored a hoop from 75 feet away during the troll ball finals of 1372. Seji's knife is still there since it rendered the ball useless and Seji is now no more having been impaled on Zulgateb's self igniting spit roasting fork. When interviewed afterwards Zulgeteb was quoted as saying "Me keep ball, look pretty in Zulgatebs cave".

So you're wrong, it's not a candle.

When will you update the download to include these Tchos? I would quite like the lamp in that picture for my current project.

Hm, a bit of a paltry release, but I suppose I'd better get it out soon.

Two more lamps and a variation of the hanging cage but this time with an iguana.

And with that, here's the newest package:

Three new wardrobe/armoire/etc. models, and a small night stand, by request.  The night stand (lockersma01) is different from the others in that the details (such as the drawer and door panel on the front) are entirely normal-mapped instead of actual geometry.  From a distance it looks fine, though.

I'll try to get a couple done every day until I have 10-20 so I can get a new pack out quickly.  Keep me on it if I fall behind.

From my own perspective, I'll need to generate some obstacles similar to woodpile01 and l01obsta10.

I glanced through the images and the following looked like they might be useful eventually: fur01, fur02, commode03, claytrunk01, trophy02, signpost03, fabricbale02, lockermag01, lockermag02, tigerfur01, l01obsta06, deskrich01, melitealt01, trophy04.

Thanks.

Wish lists are good motivation for me.  :)  I'll do the ones Bob listed here (I've been wanting to get those obstacles done too), and if there are some that I want to throw in along the way, I'll do that too.

I shall wait and see if you have the energy for more when your done with Bob's list. His needs are more immediate than mine.

If you do there are two or three items I would like for my current area in Salt.

When copying the current requests into a text file, I found there were some in there that I seem to have missed from before.  So here's a mix, including one from the new requests:

I understand why from a modeling perspective but it always makes me laugh that the sewer entrances sit 6 - 8" up from the ground. I guess that's how they keep the places clean for the monsters to live there. Of course the streets will flow like rivers so everyone should move to the sewer me thinks.

The same thought always strikes me whenever I see these things.  Totally useless as a drain unless the streets are much lower than all the buildings and walkways, so at least the streets will only get partially flooded.

I'd recommend flattening the model a bit and sinking it deeper into the ground to mitigate the problem, at least.  :)

These types of sewer entrances are not drains.  This is a common mistake people make.  They are entrances for utility work and maintenance.  They are raised specifically to keep rain water from flowing in.  Drains on the other hand are smaller and placed on city streets low down.  This is the reason you see manhole covers in the middle of streets in the city positioned so that the majority of water flows away from the entrance.

I don't know...this one has no obvious way to open it, and the grating would seem to encourage drainage rather than prevent it like a solid manhole cover, but if that's the case, then never mind.

I thought they were for monsters to get in and out?

For some reason it reminded me of this,

I have been dining out on mind the gappe for a while now. Now I am going to add cottaging in Cambridge and riding the bumbershoot to my repertoire

They may be vents to allow methane to escape from the sewer. That would prevent gases from building up and possibly exploding, and would also ventilate the sewers to allow maintenance by non-methane-breathing life forms (like us) who would otherwise be overwhelmed by such gases.

Modern sewer systems of the recent past tended to use tall ventilation pipes to prevent unpleasant gases from bothering residents at street level, although in recent years such old-fashioned static systems have often been replaced with complex air treatment facilities, to further reduce odours (especially as building heights have increased beyond what a vent stack can match). Mediaeval residents were no doubt used to such a stench.

Can't imagine the stench that all those monster emissions are adding to the mix!

Some stumps and a log barrier.  On the thumbnail the darker stump looks like it's supposed to be bloody, but the texture seemed to be missing, and the only nearby texture that seemed to fit it was not bloody.  It's hardly any different from the other one, but I put it in there anyway.
