I recently got into the batarian soldier in mp and wanted to do something with my soldiershep with inferno nades. But I'm not sure about the viability. Aren't grenades scarce throughout the campaign? Would a reave-cluster nade dwell-akin adept also be a bad idea?

There aren't many grenades in campaign.
However, if you bring two squad mates with grenades along with a grenade using Shepard , now you have quite a reserve.

Better still, proximity mine is effective as a grenade substitute.
On an infiltrator/soldier flare isn't a bad choice (though much better on an infiltrator).

For your soldier I recommend you maxing capacity on both frag and inferno grenades.
The amount of grenades do stack.

Basing a build around grenades is probably not the best choice though.
They are limited. Viable, but limited.
Use them sparingly. Use them against banshees, brutes, atlases and geth primes.
Or use them when you see a large cluster of enemies.

Inferno Grenade is arguably one of the best bonus powers. Simply lob the grenade at a group of enemies, then damage them with Concussive Shot or a Frag Grenade for a fire explosion. Use Concussive Shot to detonate when you want to save grenades for a boss fight; use Frag Grenades to deal massive burst damage.

As Abraham_uk stated, maxing out capacity for both Frag Grenade and Inferno Grenade really helps with grenades, as they both contribute to a single grenade capacity pool.

On the other hand, the Reave-Cluster Nade Adept will be more limited in grenade use. But the Adept already has powerful biotic explosions by using other powers.

The capacity armies don't increase your base nade count right?

And I actually just realized I have never done a playthrough with Ashley (whiney b*tch in my opinion) is it possible to unlock inferno nades from Zaeed in the Armax Arena?

No. You have to unlock them from Ashley.

Don't worry. Ashley is a lot more bareable in Mass Effect 3.
As for her xenophobia. A thing of the past.

hmmm the idea of flare on a soldier is quite entruiging. You could throw it every time you adrenaline rush right? Wish YouTube would have more videos of people using flare as a bonus power. So far only Jumpin is doing a playthrough with flare on and infiltrator.

The Infiltrator gets much better power damage bonuses than the soldier.

I love flare, though on the soldier it's damage is a bit weak.
Though watching flare in slow motion... Nothing beats that. Even if the damage is lack lustre.

Use it on the infiltrator.

Some maps there are plenty, and on others they can be a little more scarce. Still very viable though, but i recommend taking the capacity upgrade. Always better to have more grenades IMO, cause u can always increase damage by just throwing another.

The problem is that Frags and Infernos are basically the same thing. There's too much overlap for these grenades to really be worth bringing both.

A better bet would be an Infiltrator or a Sentinel. Both of these classes cane make grenades do a lot more damage, and both have other grenades that don't overlap with Infernos.

Not really. Frags can then be specced for shield damage. So now u got a grenade for shields and a grenade for armor. The only overlap would be Health, but all the grenades have that overlap.

Hmm.

That inferno grenade soldier sounds pretty good.

I'm going make a post about good possible grenade builds for all 6 classes.

Just played thru the citadel dlc and I used clusters a lot. There were plenty of nade ammo lying around. If someone made a grenade guide for each fight in the campaign about where to refill nades, that would be cool.

For the ultimate grenade build make sure to take the Venom as ur gun.

Not a bad idea really, like I built my infiltrator around fire explosions with inferno grenades whilst having James as my primary teammate and someone else I can't remember.

The best reason to take 2 types of grenades is extra capacity for one of them.

Inferno is probably better overall relative to frags. On a Soldier you would be able to detonate fire explosions on anything with them.

Ashley hardly talks in ME3. When she does, the things she says are pretty inconsequential. OTOH, she's beastly with Concussive Shot, Inferno Grenade and a Typhoon. I feel that with explosive Incendiary Ammo, she's even more killy
than Kaidan (even with all his combos).

AFAIK, Inferno Grenades are only available from Ashley.

As mentioned, SP doesn't provide too many grenades. Even with Javik and James in tow (the only other perma squaddies w. grenade powers), I think you'll want to back up a grenade build with some other power combo - probably something based on incendiary ammo as the primer.
