that is why i choose mages in DAO every time. Templars are good for one thing, kill mages. They are useless in any battlezone of Denerim.

Templar Hunters are deadly yes, just like any other sneaky bastards -  like rage demons or assassins of some kind. However they are not using any templars specific abilities. like Smite. and then take that staff  Hawke carrying and shove it into Hawke's Holy Passage.

I'd visit the Tevinter Imperium maybe if I had some powerful friends that could insure I wouldn't be picked up by slavers. The Imperium is a frightening place.

Blood Magic(if you learn and train how to use this magic, and not like an idiot Circle aprentice just cut the veins and summon demonsImage IPB) provides a very great possibilities...

like the ability to easily crush many enemies and Templars to pieces, and...

1)enhancement your spell powers and magic rituals without use of Lyrium(and make them badass with him)

2)enhances your body and its health and mana regenerative capacity....mage can survive after piercing with swords and arrows...and even fully re-grow their(and others) lost limbs

3)allows to live several times longer than common mage and any non-mages....and even keep youth and strength

4)ability to control and mind control most of all non-mages, and even some mages and many demons

5)have possibility to ability become implanted in other body(drink High Dragon blood and get taint like Corypheus)

6)Necromancy...nuff said

and remember that Blood Magic and Blood Mages is needed to create the Grey Wardens to stop Blights and Darkspawns.

and to do some thigs like this..Image IPB
so for mage do not use this opportunity in any case it is very, very stupid and very unwisely

for blood magic(at least for teaching and training if not for rituals), i think mage can use even the blood of Deep Roads animals(of course not as effective and requires a very lot of it)

I wonder if that's similar to The Warden drinking the blood of a wyvern if the protagonist sides with Kolgrim. Lore wise, of course, as opposed to the mechanics of the game.

Too bad we couldn't deploy both during that battle. I'd like to see mounted templars someday. Maybe on one of Tevinter's  war elephants Image IPB

It be grate to go there, I find it interesting that elves can also have positions of power and are not just confined to slaves.

Just more XP to be had. Thank the slavers for making it easy for you to decide whether or not to fight.

nope....

Templars are not a "mage killers" this is too exaggerated

mages can do Templars magic block(and they can drain mana too) much better and without constant use of expensive Lyrium.

Templars need to use Lyrium every 1-2 weaks to just have their ability's and without Lyrium they go crazy and die after 1-2 month.

(Alister rare exception to the rules, because of his  blood with taint and some dragon blood and he maybe(if Fiona is his mother)  have some elf mage blood)

Templars unlike Mages almost have no protection against blood magic, demons and serious spells

Trained Templar Knight can kill only 1-3 weak and untrained aprentice from the circle who can not really fight, but this mage rather immediately frightened and use blood magic(but without experiense it is danderous for mage) or turn himself into a demon....and then, most likely demon will immediately kill/enslave this Templar and some others before he would be killed

in 90 % Templars are never fighting alone, and usually they always go in groups of not less than 3-5 people just against a one untrained Circle aprentice

well i doubt blood of any kind have same effect that spinach have on Popeye. But in time i guess, with constant consumption of blood, power of a single mage can be immense

@ Dark Korsar so it is now 1-3 apprentices?

I doubt you would want to spend the rest of your life serving and being intimate with a Magister.

so if Fenris was so that means that all woul live like him? poor non-mage servant warrior Fenris gets all what he wanted but no one grants something for free...he wanted powers and he get them with luxury life, and he was a Magister lover and his personal bodyfuard...and all what he paid for all this it  was some of his memorys what was specially errased by Danarius

mage with this Lyrium vassalin would be unstopable

Fluff wise, templars seem to be able to deflect mage spells as if it was a beachball. Mage with no mana is very sad. Blood mage with no blood also sad, but less so because he's an evil bastard.

I thought Minrathous was clearly NOT on the map of places they would go to in DA3.

As for the culture of Tevinter, of course I don't like the slavery, but apart from that I don't see any reason to be opposed to it. I would love to explore it all.

How about non-mages being forbidden to from having any political power and seen as being born handicapped? That's not slavery but it's definitively another aspect of Tevinter culture that should be opposed.

As opposed to the slavery, this is not something I see any immediate reason to fight. I would encourage a system that reliably produces mages so that eventually the problem is solved because everyone is a mage.

No...just no. That's actual genocide.
Besides, everyone not being a mage would be a more reliable way to solve the problem since it would also destroy the threat posed by Abominations.

I really want to go to Tevinter. I'm curious to see how a free Mage society functions without restrictions. It will help me to decide which side to take. Fenris from DA2 kept saying negative things about it, but maybe that's because he was a slave. You can't expect a salve to say good things about Tevinter. We don't know a lot about the place, since Fenris gave us a real one sided view of it. Sure you can read some stuff in book or online but that doesn't give you much more than you already know.

Tevinter doesn't appeal to me at all (even though I like/side with mage issues for the most part). Sounds like a nasty place. I'd probably commit a lot of homicide, in game. The whole libertarian mindset is not up my alley in general. I still believe in control.

It doesn't sound like a place I'd particularly like to go, without the possibility of burning it to the ground.

That said, I like variety in my games, so sure.
