all of the fetch quests should have been real side missions but the Barla Von/Shadow Broker Team and the Dekunna/Elcor ones would be 2 of the main ones.

As for side missions in general...

our Feros/Shiala and Palaven/Kal'Reegar dlcs should have been side missions.

Also something from our Sheps backgrounds. Like a Toombs mission or something with Mindior

Dekunna (and irune) might've been good opportunities to use vechicle combat but what's so special about Barla/Shadow broker that it wouldn't feel like the usual side mission aka padding?

The Shiala and Kal'Reegar ones are right out unless you structure them a la Grissom where without jack, the students are different in tone OR not-Grunt takes point in the Rachni mission. Remember, those two were killable in previous games.

Now, something from Shep's background/service history, that somehow ties to the war, I can get behind.

They most likely would structure them like Grissom and the Rachni mission because just about every side mission that has past game characters are killable

And I think people want the Barla/Shadow Broker mission because they wanna see fight with Shadow Broker agents

@Bleachrude

1. The Barla Von one could possibly include Feron which would be nice. Also Liara dialogue would be funny

2. My Feros dlc and AresKeith's Palaven dlc ideas did account for Shiala and Reegar's possible deaths

I can understand thinking that some of the "fetch quests" would have been more appropriate as full missions (I really thought Elcor Extraction was going to be one, and was admittedly disappointed when I traveled there and found out otherwise), I agree with Alan's point about there being a tendency for people to perceive these things as "should have been more" rather than "this is actually all extra to start with." Though this thread is all hypothetical so I realize that's not the OP's point.

In that vein, I have to say that even the fetch quests were, in terms of BioWare games, a big improvement over something like Dragon Age 2. And I say that as a general fan of DA2. But it's fetch quests typically involved nothing more than finding an item and then somehow knowing exactly who to give it to, generally without having previously heard anything about it (though to be fair, the item description generally contained relevant information). And when you turned in the item, the resulting dialogue was short and often seemed generic).

ME3, at least, typically has you overhear very specific conversations, and when you provide the item (or whatever) you get a fairly detailed, unique response. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of fetch quests, but as far as they go, I think ME3 actually did a decent job with them.

I agree Jon. Compared to the DA2 fetch quests ME3 was a huge improvement

1- *completes the mission 'Prime Suspect'*
2- *goes to Hightown and sees symbol over merchants*
3- "I believe this belongs to you" says Hawke
4- "I've been looking all over for this" *gives Hawke 5 silver*

1- talks to Elcor and rescuing them on Elcor Homeworld
2. Fly over to Dekuuna and start vehicle gameplay
3. Complete "Elcor Extraction"
4. Return to Citadel and speak to Elcor

yeah the Thessia arc should have actually been a mission arc.

like maybe rescuing the Asari Matriarchs or saving the Asari dancers on Thessia...

Maybe even add a new mission to Sur'Kesh around the time Cerberus HQ starts

the new mission for Sur'Kesh should have involved the yahg or the Dalatrass being overthrown by STG.

Thessia should have in fact been a mini hub that you could visit until after Rannoch. So players could build a connection to the planet before it fell like a brick.

How about a mission to the Batarian homeworld, Bataria? Maybe fight off a reaperized Thresher Maw?

It's actually called Khar'shan. But to that, I don't know about a Reaperized Thresher Maw, interesting, but a bit weird tbh.

Off the top of my head, the only two that ever stood out to me that would make awesome side missions in the vein of the Ex-Cerberus Scientists and Grissom Academy Evacuation were the Elcor Extraction and Rescue Shadow Broker Wet Squad.

As a matter of fact, when Barla Von gave me the Shadow Broker mission, I briefly thought it actually was going to be a proper mission.

The rest are suited to scan/retrieval in my opinion, but those two could have been full side-missions.

I really liked ex-cerberus scientist since you get the resolution with Archer....

Still don't see the appeal of Barla Von/Shadow broker (might be because I'm not Liara's biggest fan) but Priority Thessia with a couple more side missions other than the monastery I can get behind.

Well instead of free development time, It'd be atleast 2 more years of development. And ME3 could have been twice the size if MP was gone or on a separate Disc

How much more would you have been willing to pay?

Well, $30 extra for the base game would have bought a lot of sidequests.
