I Think Bioware should have made those scan mission mini missions where you can send Soldiers and enginers from the Normandys junior crew to go on less taxing missions to allow the special ops squad some time to rest and recuperate from wounds and exhaustion.

Scan for the objective coordiantes, minigame to pick junior crewmembers and send them off, sucessful missions Awards exp Points for the junior crew adding war assets in efficiency and crew experience for the normandy.
A sucessful mission would requier an appropriate selection of people, Soldiers to help deal with threats and specialists to handle technical or otherwise complications.
Mission parameters and orbital scans would give a description of what to expect so the player can make an educated choice of personel.

Failed missions could endup with someone in sickbay until you have done a mission on your own which would allow them time to recover. Aswell as a failed mission objective or at least partialy failed objective.
Perhaps the option to buy them some new equipment as the level up. Or interaction with them... or overhearing that trhey want somethign and then get it for them just like you we're listening in on conversation on the Citadel! (man that Shepard is creepy, nice but creepy, do you think he's planted listening bugs on our uniforms?)

God, I was so annoyed when I flew to Dekuuna to find it was just another scanning target. And I'd even been there beforehand and forgotten about it. I was so excited about finally seeing an Elcor world, and them with their back cannons, but in the end the Elcor got no love. I get the sense that one actually was going to be a mission too, but - time constraints.

They should of made them Firewalker type missions instead of go to a system ping around and get the object. You go to the system land on the planet in the Hammerhead and go find the item or person because you are the only stealth ship. The side missions were really lacking in this game compared to ME1 and ME2. What I wouldn't give to keep shooting mercenaries again for no reason!

I had that feeling with a couple other missions too

Imo, being able to choose between the Hammerhead and Mako would be more appropriate

Well, $30 extra for the base game would have bought a lot of sidequests.

Well, that at the MP portion no doubt provided a pretty sizable revenue stream... so cutting it would have had to have been made up somewhere... so yeah, how much more would you have been willing to pay?  Because 2 more years of development isn't ever free.

But Ares's answer says it all.  Gamers are inherently resistant to any more upfront cost.  Companies have to get the extra revenue to make up for their increasing costs somewhere.  Say hello to DLC.  Say hello to micro-transactions.

Not really, and to answer your question since something like this would be equal to an expansion pack it would be an extra $20 - $30

The Mako was terrible!! Trying to drive up or down mountains in that thing always resulted in it falling down the hill and needing to be repaired! Makes me sad that they both were in the Take Back Earth trailer but don't exist in game! Have to freaking walk everywhere!!!

I'm pretty sure the Mako controls and landscaping would be greatly improved lol

I would rather have the game as is than more sidequests without multiplayer. I've gotten a lot of fun and enjoyment out of multiplayer. I've spent more time on it than I would have spent on sidequests. I normally don't like multiplayer, but it's fun to play around as different races/classes.

Multiplayer wouldn't be taken out in this scenario, this is all hypothetical

I went through an ME2 runthrough recently and it's amazing the amount of side content compared to ME3. Blood Pack / Blue Suns / Geth / Batarian pirates. I wonder if the ME3 fetch quests were meant to be like this before MP was crammed down our throats?

I'm also wonding what happened to all the great lighting, camera work, and music that was in ME2? And why can't Shepard walk around with two squadmates in ME3 like he did before? ME2 is just so much more polished and fun in the non-combat parts. Slightly improved combat is the only advantage ME3 has IMHO.

bioware woulda taken those complaints and woulda just made UNC worlds that didnt even feature land and the mako wiould just sortof float where it needs to go becasue ART.

but, it would probably even worse.

Well I wouldn't say all the Fetch quests were meant to be side missions

I personally feel that a few of them were meant to missions similar to Grissom's style or the N7 missions but was cut dew to time constraint

Bioware used to be really good at listening! People didn't like the Mako so the removed it, then people said they missed the exploring so they added Firewalker. People said they wanted more Liara so they gave us more Liara. Its just somewhere between ME2 and 3 they lost the ability to listen!

If wouldn't really people didn't like the Mako (even though some people really didn't like the Mako). The problem was more towards the controls and landscaping making it horrible to do.

But Bioware took some of the criticism to the extreme and cut the exploration out period

i expect bioware to screw things up when making their games now.

have you played or heard about their recent releases?

It's not inconceivable, but it would require a very weird creative process. Bio would have to write a lot of sidequest outlines before deciding how the game would work, decide they're not going to do a lot of sidequests after all, and then decide to put the outlines into the game anyway.

I'm also wonding what happened to all the great lighting, camera work, and music that was in ME2? And why can't Shepard walk around with two squadmates in ME3 like he did before? Maybe it's a PC thing, but I thought ME3 's lighting was a lot better than ME2's. Especially on the Normandy, where ME2 has a lot of awful bloom effects.
