Using consumables get you the credits faster and more reliably. Faster and more reliable credits means a steady supply of consumables. Dependancy on consumables then becomes irrelevant, because there will never be a time when you don't have them.

If you are a Gold level player who will usually extract successfully in Gold with a variety of classes, you will earn enough credits to always keep a decent stock of consumables just by buying Spectre Packs and maybe an occasional JEP if you're low on Gel or Rockets or something, and rotating to a different class with different consumables when one set gets low.

So.

Are you a Gold level player?

Or are you a Silver level player leeching on Gold level players, using no consumables, refusing to Gel or Rocket when you clearly need to, and doing nothing but spamming heavy melee on a Juggernaut?

I have no idea. I placed second in a Gold Wave once, and third in another, without any consumables equipped. Usually i don't even bother going in to gold, because i want to make sure i dont hold anyone back. I always feel so bad when i bottom out a match.

You're much less likely to hold anyone back if you're using consumables.

When playing on silver, which is where i usually am, i top the match almost every time. Sometimes i come in 4 or 5 rounds late, and i'll still end up 2-3k above the next highest scorer. So, i haven't been holding anyone back so far. Even on the gold matches i played, i wasn't on the bottom.

But, i guess platinum is a different story. I'm too scared to even try plat.

Yeah...please use equpiment. The possibility of needing them and not having them might bum you out, but it bums me out even more when I see someone in my lobby with no equipment on whatsoever. That's how I know not to rely on you.

Equipment makes for faster games and it's just better when the whole team's success doesn't depend on the one guy who put equipment on. Besides, what else are you going to use it for?

Edit: If you're talking about Silver, then lolequipment. Seriously, aside from the permanent Gear bonus, don't bother. Not unless you're experimenting or something, and even then, it's not worth it. If we're talking Gold+, put something on. Anything.

Or too strong to rely on equipment, and i can get by on my own raw talent. Like excercise, i feel the best way to grow, is to do what you can with proper form, as opposed to taking on more, with improper form, or a crutch.

So you might be on the border between Silver and Gold.

That transition can be a harsh one.

Consumables make it considerably smoother.

Smoother transition means more credits and less bruised ego.

And that means more consumables.

Forgoing consumable use doesn't make you stronger. It makes you a leech.

I'm not sure what "puggishness" means. But, i never griefed on purpose, not anything i knew was blatent griefing, like my bonus question. That's why i asked, so i would know if what i was doing was acceptable, or rude.

Just trying to better myself. :)

We're trying to show you the proper form of the game is using equipment.

It seems like a beautiful cycle, that i just need to take the plunge in to. I feel like if i did use consumables, i could be a REALLY good player.

I see that's the point of the game, but, i'm an in between silver and gold level player. I at least want to be solid gold before i start relying on consumables.

Don't get ahead of yourself. You did say you mostly use the Jugg, which people do say is a crutch. Try using anything else then that without equipment and make it under 25 minutes on gold.

When you exercise, you need good shoes you can run in. Clothes that give you the right freedom of movement. Water to stay hydrated. Safety equipment to prevent injury.

Going into Gold or Plat without consumables on is like a rookie entering a team based biking marathon, naked, with no helmet or water.

Maybe the quality of your technique, your bike and your teammates will get you over the finish line. But it's a terrible idea.

Well, i usually bike naked, but that's beside the point. I dont run in to gold or platinum matches, i know my limits. I plan to hone my skills in silver, before moving up for good.

Well, when you do move up to Gold, equipment is your friend. That's all we're trying to say.

No ammo bonus.

It's just the way i am, i can stand playing, and thinking i did something just because i had a boost, and then thinking that once i inevitably run out of boosts, i wont be able to have the boosts. I have a terrible fear of the dependancy. What do?

If you join a gold game without consumables, people will assume you are a leech. This means they will be less likely to revive you, let you stay in their lobbies, send you friend requests, etc. To me, if it's gold+ and a low N7/CP joins my lobby without gear, I already feel poorly disposed toward him because it appears that he just wants to be carried. For the first game you play with a group, wear gear, because it shows some respect and willingness to be a team player. If you blow everyone out of the water, then sure, do what you want the next match. (In Bronze and Silver gear is not required.)

I understand your fear of running out of consumables, but that's pretty much what they're there for. If you run out of the consumables you use on your Jugg, think of it as an opportunity to use a kit that will benefit from what you DO have. When I run ourt of AR rail amps, I switch to a kit that uses a pistol. When I run out of cyclonics, I use a Drell with Adrenaline. Consumables let you try new things: new kits, new difficulty levels. Once you get used to them, will you still need gear? No, but it will still be nice to have.

Please tell me you use missiles and gel. ;)

Yeah, i definitely understand that, and i could totally see the helpfullness of equipment. I'm afraid to even tell my dirty little secret, which is that i don't even use biotic powers. Ever. I ran a collector adept for a little while, and went entire matches without even touching his biotics.

I'm a monster... :'(

But that's not what your OP said.

I mean, this can be taken to absurd extremes. Teammates might be seen as a crutch, so maybe you would like to play solo all the time?

Well, that's good! I'm glad you don't see them as a crutch, otherwise I really would encourage you only to play solo.

In Silver you can probably get away with no consumables just fine. Though if you are starting to get an excess of Level I stuff, you may as well use that up.

I actually have more level 4 things than i do level one things, which is weird.

And i dont. I have only actually been in like, 3 gold matches, but every one of them i ran in to with no consumables. I dont do it at all anymore. Any time i accidentally find myself in a gold lobby, i just leave.
