Here is what my NWN1 PW looked like (roughly...this has a new grid with less areas for NWN2).

But it still seems like I'm gonna end up with a massive module file. And I haven't even added a crafting system yet or the factional war system that lets players take over areas...
What are PW's module sizes like in NWN2? I've done around, perhaps, 6 or 7% of the building so far and the file is about half a gig. Simple math says I may need to reconsider...
What are PW builders doing to hold on to the immersiveness of their worlds?
Size of PW modules...looking for suggestions

The module itself? The Gray Isles server ended up 1.8gb near the end. We had probably around 30 exterior areas. Exterior areas make up the largest part of your module.
I think you have to accept that with NWN2 you cannot do what you did in NWN1 and build every part of the land you want to cover, your in essence build the "highlights"

IIRC Dammendrech passed the 2GB mark at some point, which first caused some instabilities - however with some NWNX tuning and a longer waiting time for the module directory to load (including a few server crashes on load) it remained perfectly playable. You should definitely save the mod as directory though. If you want to keep exteriors smaller, keep an eye on the grass - grass is definitely what blows up the trx files most, much much more than any amount of placeables and trees, especially when you use many variations.
