Battlefield Fanboy, til Battlefield 3 turned out to be a steaming pile of garbage.
ME3 has been basically been my only shooter since, with a bit of bioshock here and there.

First shooter that wasn't MP: Duke Nukem 3D. Followed by Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter, Perfect Dark, and Golden Eye.
First MP shooter: Halo 3.

It was for me and since then I have tried several others but could never really get into it and thought about as to why that was the case. I realised that part of it the lore and story goes along with MP, a long history of playing the SP and the connection to the ME universe. I am not really sure if I can get into shooters just for the sake of playing a shooter. MP made you feel like part of the universe itself, whereas Call of Booty is just a shooter (a popular one) but has no lore to accompany it. What are your thoughts on this matter?
This was my first online shooter, yes.
Prior to that, I had only ever played any shooters as SP offline. The first three Medal of Honor games back on the PS1/PS2 immediately spring to mind, although I did muck around with Doom and Wolfenstein 3D on my uncle's old PC rig back in the day. Have also played Borderlands offline as well. I gave my husband's Call of Duty a shot once, but did not really care for it.
I agree with the assessment that ME3 MP gives you more of a story feel. One of the things that drew me into the first few Medal of Honor games was the storyline and those games came out at a time when WWII was a study area of interest of mine, and we were not yet drowning in endless WWII-style games.
I feel that if ME3 MP were PvP, though, that I would not enjoy it. The co-op nature of different races fighting together for mutual survival is the real draw and enjoyment for me. I would much rather work together as a team and have friendly score-based competition with each other (as it is now) than fight and kill each other repeatedly.
EDIT: Also, have played Fallout 3 and New Vegas as well. Can't believe I forgot that. And I tend to roll as a bow sniper in The Elder Scrolls games, so that kind of counts, I suppose.

For me it was Half Life I think... Started playing that when I was 6 (although mostly in LAN or bootcamp, or the beginning... I found the monsters quite creepy XD)

But I have to admit, I never played a game for so long like I've been doing with ME3, not even X3.

If you're playing a shooter game for the "lore", you're doing it wrong.
Gameplay and visuals are what make great shooters, not story.
Mass Effect 3 lacks a lot of intensity, as such I wouldn't really call it a shooter.
Although I wouldn't use the phrase "shooter" to describe the spray and pray moronic nonsense that call of duty is.
ME3 is an RPG, ME3 MP is a shooter... No?

Depends on how you choose to play it. You can make it a shooter, an RPG, or basically a movie. It's kinda up to you.

Current gen, besides ME3MP I still play Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2, even now they're still a far better game than any of the COD series

*whispers* Who hurt you?
Oh really, it's not only BSN? Try posting a post equivalent in meaning on the Starcraft forums (or I assume anywhere else where people are really into the game they play). You'll get burned in no time.
Otherwise, no it wasn't, though I've never been too much into shooters to be honest. But I don't think we can call the ME MP a shooter... I definitely wouldn't classify it as one.

ME3 is the first online multiplayer shooter I've bothered to play.
My first multiplayer shooter though was probably Goldeneye 64.
My first shooter at all was Wolfenstein 3D.
Exactly the same. Virtual hi.five!
