Ah. Good old times when the BF series actually was good.

BF3 is a steaming pile of garbage.
BFBC2 is still pretty fun.

Truth is COD and Battlefield are very different games. FPS vs TPS. Also, the rpg elements and skill trees seperate it further. I'm still discovering new ways to play my charecters.
This element of discovery and experimentation is lacking in FPS... in my view.
The lore plays a part aswell, no doubt. Personally I like the feeling of being connected to the lore. And why wouldn't we? We've had three epic games with great charecters and cinematics.
With all that being said, there is a game on the horizon that just might be able to pull of FPS/third person/RPG/Co op/competitive all within a universe seeped in lore, intrigue and mystery. It's from the creators of Halo and it's called Destiny.
Looks very promising indeed

I think we should turn stardusk into an adjective. Once you reached "the point of no return" you're stardusk.RedJohn wrote...

Adjectives can be nominalised, just as he did, by using the definite article.

However the day I call any Mass Effect game a shooter, is the day I make oral love to a Yawg.
The EA fatcats kind of screwed ME3, big surprise there. They marketed the game as though it was a meathead shooter. (front cover reskin of BF3, 250% more "hoorah!" and saluting, a button in the menu that completely kills the single most important, unique, and defining game mechanic of the franchise, etc.)
Not only does this negatively effect fanboyloremonkies like me, but it also hurts the 14year old hemaphrodites who's balls haven't dropped, and need to feel masculine via gritty destruction everywhere with explosions every 5 seconds. They boot up the game after seeing the BF3 cover reskin, and all the combat shown on a post apocalypse Earth, do they expect to spend 60%+ of the game talking to people? You don't actually fight on Earth till the very last portions of the game.
I've heard so many negative comments about Mass Effect because of this...
"dude that games f*ckin' g*y and f*ck"
"who the hell actually likes those games, nothing ever happens"
etc.
Could continue rant on "streamlining" RPGs into shooters, however, I should go.

The first videogame I ever played, with my dad.
I used to have trouble dealing with the fact the things on screen had to die.
Good memories.
That game is still glorious.
