ME3 MP was just at the end of a very long list of shooters I've played so no.
I come from a very hardened combat background of FPS's. All starting waaay back when I was young and got introduced to games like Starwars Dark Forces and stuff of that nature. Then with Halo in 2001 I really got into shooters even more. Playing at a compettive level once Halo 2 and 3 came out online got me even more interested. The pure satisfaction of beating really good players at high ranked levels was all the reason I needed to play them.
So playing ME3 MP I was able to extend my skills of the fps battlefield upon it and do quite fine. I've become quite adaptable to fps games or shooters really where things like learning the controls and aiming are second nature to me. For example I can go from playing Halo a few hours to Cod right after and not have to adjust to the new controls or feel ofthe game, it just clicks in my head and I play like I never left. ME3 MP is pretty awesome and a nice change of pace though and why I've been playing it since the game released and continue to play it.

What is a "shooter" ? Can I call Midnight Resistance on the ZX spectrum one...?
SP- probably sth from my commodore amiga days. I recall playing Duke Nukem on PC too
multiplayer - Goldeneye
In terms of multiplayer online, kinda weird no-one else mentioned it as it was a big step forward at the time IIRC : Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
Came out in 2000 or so. Basically, without this game we probably wouldnt have had the original CoD or CoD 2 (which were sooooo good for me)...I hate the COD:MWs though

As far as ME series goes, I started with ME2, then ME1, then looked forward to ME3. Was looking for a good game to play and ME2 got great reviews so I took the plunge and haven't looked back.
Primarily a FPS fan. First was Wolfenstein 3d. I dropped 200 on a gravis ultrasound just to get the full experience of that game.
Online play was Duke Nukem through dial up. One on One with a buddy of mine.
LAN play was Q1 with KQP.
Did I just age myself here?

My first shooter (as FPS) was Wolfenstein 3D Demo. My first shooter (as game where you shoot) was probably Galaxians.

Duck hunt was my first "Shooter." xD
But really, SW: Battlefront 2(PS2) & Halo 2(XBOX) were my first.

I did'nt start playing videogames the past year, so no. I think mi first shooter was Wolfestein 3D.
It wasn't my first MP neither. CS an HL was, but I'm not much an MP guy. Still TF2, BBC2, BF3 are on my list.

Been playing shooters since Wolf3D and Doom, but ME3 is the first MP shooter I've enjoyed on a console. I just could not get into the Halo or CoD games for multiplayer, for various reasons.

Nope, that distinction belongs to the original PC Castle Wolfenstein.

Without the "lore", I wouldn't have invested so many hours in the game. I liked ME3 MP because of its context, through Mass Effect, ME2, ME3.
On top of that, the game design (the six classes, biotics, cooldowns, weapons...) is solid.
My first multiplayer FPS was CoDMW (around 50 hours into MP... nothing).
My first shooter was... Medal of Honor (1999), I think.
Oh no: GoldenEye (1997). Or Jedi Knight : Dark Forces II (1997). Can't remember...

And bump because I remembered something through my senility. The Aliens Total Conversion mod for Doom. When I think of Doom, it's not Doom I think of but that mod. I think the first level had no enemies, just the sound of the motion tracker and sound bites from the film. "Check those corners."

The only thing I remember from that platform is "Lords of Midnight" - we were puzzled how this game worked with only 48 K memory.
Oh, and I think there was a co-op airfighter sim also, where one would operate the weapons and the other fly the plane: "Shoot it! Shoot it nao! Ahh, crap..."
