We already got that with Morrigan and again with Isabela.
I would like to try out all of the romances in DA, but found that I just could not go through with it in regards to those two.
The reason being, I usually play relatively nice characters, and the fact that both of them generally find good, upstanding behavior to be repugnant causes me to find *them* repugnant.
For DA3 I would like to see a good, morally upstanding LI like Aveline (Some of my characters flirted with her like mad, lol).
If Cassandra is an LI, I think she would fit this role nicely, except with a bit of an edge to her (but not like Morrigan or Isabela).

Edit:
For the record, I don't think we should even have a main LI.
This really only applies if we do get another main female LI.

I'm happy with Leliana/Merrill for my characters. I like Isabela too - though I don't think she's particularly "main", you can play the game without ever meeting her after all.

She is the main LI.
I would go so far as to call her the cannon LI.
Just look at the DA2 trailers.

As Long as Each LI get's treated fairly (Not necessarily a Happy resolution) as in they each have EQUAL AMOUNTS OF CONTENT! (I'm looking at you ME3!!!) I think we'll be grand.

I didn't realize izzy was the "main" romance.. or that their was a "main" romance. why can't leliana or merril be your "main" romances? or even if their not the "main" romances, cant you just romance them anyway?

No.
She seems very strong. Very badass. I didn't watch DotS, but even in her scenes with Varric she just seems like an awesome character. 
It's the petty, selfishness of the above mentioned LI's that annoys me. Cassandra seems anything but that.

Disagree completely with the OP. I don't like Merrill but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be characters like her in the game available to romance as long as there is also a different option for those who prefer different characters.I adore Isabela in particular and Morrigan to lesser extent. I definitely want similar characters in DAI. Also there is no such thing as the main LI.

You have the choice of Morrigan or Leliana both are not evil. Repugnant is kind of subjective since I like Morrigan and Isabela. As long as the characters are well done I don't care beside I usually don't do romances anyway.

Also, see my above quote regarding 'main' LI's. 
Morrigan is more important to DA's story than Leliana (dark ritual, daughter of Flemeth etc)
Isabela is plastered all over DA2's promo material and features prominently in outside projects (comics)
Merrill is not.

Lol, the term is my own of course, but it referrs to how certain LI's are featured more prominently or who play a bigger role in the main storyline.

Merrill is not.

A third LI like them to act as a counterbalance to the sweet LI is definitely needed if similar LI exist.
As to Morrigan being more important, well Leilana featured in DA2 while Morrigan didn't.
Not sure what it matters who was on the promo in DA2, as they both have similar levels of content in the game.
Comics don't feature Hawke, so why is it of relevance who they decide to feature in them.
