Well assuming mage vs templar war will be one of the main aspects in Dragon Age 3 I think its very important to have Anders in Dragon Age 3. Because he was the person who "removed any chance of compromise" by destroying the chantry of kirkwall, something that has never been done before! I don't see any meaning in a mage rebelion without the person who started it. He doesn't have to be a companion but in my honest opinion he should be a potential companion for those who sided with mages AND kept Anders alive in Dragon age 2.

Of couse there is no need to force the issue, meaning those who decided to kill him shouldn't have to go through dissappoitment again like case of Leliana. But there should definitely be some mentions of him even if a player decided to kill him by siding with templars. Not to mention killing anders didn't kill Justice, he can find another host and continue Ander's plight from there.

I'm hoping Bioware will surprise us. I mean wouldn't it be awesome if we could get justice to posses our new mage hero in Dragon Age 3 and reign terror on templars? Maybe a new Specialization for our hero that can only be unlocked by letting justice posses the mage hero. Of course this is just an example. I just think that Anders or Justice will add alot to the game.

Edit: I have found some interesting stuff about Anders and his potential appearance in DA3 in trivia section of Dragon age wiki:

  • Anders uses the line "There can be no peace" in Act 3 as does Flemeth in the beginning of the game.
  • Jennifer Hepler describes the choice of keeping Anders alive
as "poetic justice", as he would have to face and suffer the knowledge
of the lives he took. She also states her belief that he wishes death so
that the people whom he killed receive justice as well.[9]
  • David Gaider stated that Anders being merged with Justice may
have one of the two effects on his Calling: "One is that the spirit
within Anders can affect the level of his corruption, so it may delay or
remove the necessity for his Calling altogether. Either that or at some
point the corruption within Anders is going to corrupt the spirit." He
refused to tell which one the writers prefer due to the possibility of
    Anders appearing in future games.[4]
  • David Gaider confirmed that if Hawke killed Anders, he is ultimately dead. Justice, however, may be another story.[10]
  • Adam Howden (Anders voice actor in Dragon Age 2) hinted that he might be recording for Dragon Age 3:

Justice/Vengeance will most likely return, as well Anders (if he is not killed). But to what extent of the role is unknown.

If Anders is not dead, I think he should feature prominently in DA3 (not as a companion though).
If he is dead, Vengeance- remember it is vengeance now, not Justice- should play a role. And he should be a full-fledged demon inhabiting a host.(But not turning the host into deformed monster. I'd like see something along the lines of how Connor was possessed.

1. Yes I'd like to see Anders again if he was spared, not necissarily as a companion though. I'd rather leave space for new stories to be told.

2. No, I definitely don't want Justice to take over another once good mage and turn them into a lunatic.

I like Anders [and Justice] but he's [they've?] already been a companion for two games. That's enough imo. That isn't to say I don't want him to crop up in DAIII however.

Bioware never put a limit on how much companions you can recruit (you can recruit them all). Its a good thing but it can also provide freedom for players if there was a limit. Like when you recruit someone, another companion won't join your party. This gives players more freedom to chose from what companions they want without having over ten companions.

As an example lets say Anders is a potential companion in DA3 and if you recruit him then cullen won't join you or vice versa.

Even if Anders is dead....

'' The Maker decided that my time hasn't come yet''

Honestly now, Bioware wont do something like that again I think. But like you said, if Hawke executed him some mentions would be okay I guess.

I am not a lore expert in Dragon Age, if Anders got killed is Justice dead too? Or did he return to the Fade?

He's dead, stabbed him myself, several times, to make sure it took.

justice aka Vengeance now didn't disappear if Kristoff's body which was already dead died again in Awakening while defending Vigil's keep. So according to that event I think he can stay.

One thing is certain is that one way or the other Anders will be gone.

However, Vengeance will live on!

I assume he might be leading his own group of mages. I kind of doubt the circle will let him join them, though they might. the libertarians would probably accept his help. actually I think Fiona would let him join them. if its left to her.

As long as he doesn't come back to life it's fine with me. If he magically revives, Sebastian and I will kill him again.

I'm really quite tired of Justice/Vengeance at this point. Part of me thinks it would be interesting to see how Justice survives without a body (since Anders is dead in all my playthroughs) but then I think, no, I've had about enough of him.

Well, I'm glad that Gaider spent seventeen paragraphs talking about Anders' sexuality and two talking about his actions. Yeah, this is the kind of thing that worries me.

From dead Anders Vengeance goes to Sebastian, bringing vengeance down to those that wronged the chantry.

Maybe if you killed him then "Anders" is gone but Justice will continue to possess the body.

If he lived then is possession is still prominent but Anders is still in there somewhere. This scenario could lead to a major consequence based on that decision in which the latter version of Anders can be reasoned with and the former can't.

That might be a pretty cool way for the choice to have meaning.

It has been confirmed that Anders is dead, if you chose to kill him. Vengeance, I suppose, could continue his work by possessing Anders' corpse. Creepy.

I look forward to seeing an Anders cameo but he is too controversial for a full role.
