I think hes older than stardusk, proving once again that not only 20/30 yos excell at this game.
I learned alot from him and his sons, but then I took a 5 month break.
Since I came back, I still hook up with em occasionally, although they play less, and since I got a bit better myself, the bad lag I have playing with him holds me back alot and keeps me from doing this too often. These days that old fart doesnt shy from carrying a platinum match with a level 3 char.
I then learned ALOT Pugging gold with almost all classes for awhile.
A month or so ago I met HIGH UPPERSTORMBAHNFUHRER RUMLIURAM, and he was another eye opener. No matter the class, no matter the map, no matter his level no matter the difficulty level or the quality of his teammates....this guy just makes you look bad every match. Casual platinum solo player, great teammate, and all around nice guy !
I also learned alot from Stardusk Videos
Justkiddingstarduskyouascrub.
Im now contemplating finally finishing lone wolf banner.... with a plat solo. But I dont wanna cheese it so I'm taking my time improving my positioning and aim, and then I dunno, think ill try a drell infiltrator one.... maybe.

I play pugs over 95% of the time, Bronze, Silver ... but all the horror stories about Gold pugs worried me, Gold solos, where I can control the spawns and pace, not such a big deal, but bad pugs -- ugh.
Shinobu added me to her group, surrounded by folks working as a team, allowed me to get comfortable on Gold, so that bad pugs are no longer a worry.
She was very patient, always helping folks out, reviving them, making it so that we could all get through the match and mostly extract.
In one of our last matches, she cheered me on, through my last second sprint to the LZ on Ghost, when a Ravager was initially blocking my way, crossed the circle of extraction as the clock hit 00, verbal high fives as the screen fade began.

My friends..
Ironically when i started playing this MP, i used to pug for whole 5 months or so..until i met Anie, Linn and Denis..3 wonderfull people i will never forget. Then the list expanded and i met other friends i am happy to play with:
Aetika, Andy, Bob, Cionix, JK, Kouzrah, Laura, Jeremy, Ruslan, Sabina, Sebastian, Shinobu, Willy, Yenneffer, Zanshin and one "hidden" friend.
(sorry if i forgot somebody)
I love you all my friends <3
Oh I see my name in the list !
<3 to you too !
I met too many wonderful people in this community to write all of their names, but as a short list :
- Tachi was so nice that when I met him, I tried to use my microphone for the first time so that I could talk back to him. Pewpewdisco competed with me for challenges, which led me to get my BotB banner and get significantly better at this game. Those 2 guys taught team play to the PUGger that I was and we did our first plats together. They will probably never read this though, as they're not really BSNers.
- vironblood took me in his lobby full of good players when I was barely decent on gold. He showed me what to look up to while trying to give me a bit of confidence.
As for the fun, I get it with all of the friends, old and new, who play with me. Some special extra

Randoms make me a better player. I tend to get too laid back if I am playing with people I know can handle themselves and make far more mistakes than I would if I had to "try hard".
That said, I learned a lot of things from people I would consider great players like VoidNeXus, AreleX, Bechter, Relix28, UC Gollum, Heroicmass, etc. (too many to list)
Basically this, also a shoutout to Bechter who was first really good player I ever played with, a great comrade for learning the aggressive playstyle alongside. Basically it comes down to PUGs and Team AreleX.

However, right now, i'm pushing myself to get better because of Knockingbr4in and the other PS3 Spectres. They're the only people i've met who're actually better than me, plus they actually want ME to join, so i'm practicing for the tryout thing by doing some Gold/Platinum solos. Failed my first attempt at trying out horribly. Gotta learn the tactics for objective waves when there's 10 Phantoms and stuff rolling around.

I'd like to catch a few games with you, I want to see these crazy volus skills everyone keeps mentioning.
I'm sure you'll be part of the team soon enough.

You got too emotional OP .. i am sure sharing this must have brought tears to your eyes
Very fond memories of this old guy, this was back in the early 1980's, in banking you never addressed a superior unless you were first spoken to, this guy threw that book out the window. I took a promotion that was way beyond my ability at the time but this guy saw something in me, took me under his wing and showed me the ropes, I would often feel threatened by people better or smarter than I, with time he showed me that line of thinking was very wrong so I tried to use it in most areas of life.
So in MP, this was my first online game, I had no choice to surround myself with people better than I, I still play games with people better than I and I think it's great.
Yes, I suppose I do shed a tear when I think of him, his name was Ron Bond of all things:), in 1984 I played wht would be his last game of golf in a staff tournament, he passed away that evening of a heart attackm but he lived a full life and he went out doing what he loved to do.

In real life I received a promotion in the banking industry that was, at the time pretty significant at a young age, getting a handle on everything I had to learn was pretty trying, I was having a beer one day with a sr exec and he said something that has stuck with me through life, surround yourself with people that are better than you as you will only be as good as your team.
Awesome post. Great advice.

This is 100% accurate. Sure there is the ramp up time to get better, but no pain, no gain.
Being pulled out of your comfort zone is sometimes a good thing.

Who made me a better player? Superphoresis friended me when I was a good Silver player doing occasional Gold. Then She and Vironblood played Gold with me for two days then took me into Platinum, full extraction.
Edit : Where I've been most of the time since. Except for the last 3 weeks as they have both dropped off the map.

I met him very early on in my ME3 MP playing days and I still learn so much from him, but he really helped raise me up from Silver groupie to Gold standard, both from just watching how he plays and also with being ever so patient with answering questions, whether it be here in PMs or back and forth over the mic in-game. Now we're rolling some Plat duos and the learning process just keeps chugging along.
A shout-out also has to go to Rad_Rage (when are you getting your PS3 back from the shop, dude???). I've learned a lot of tips and tricks from him to help my game, and playing Gold duos with him for Cory's tournament helped me learn a LOT about myself as a player... and really honed me enough to finally see success in the Gold solos that had given me so much trouble prior.

When it comes to MP I have tried to surround myself with players that could show me the ropes, take what works and leave the rest at the door, I also find great pleasure in giving back so I have taken hundreds on to show them what I knew, not only did I learn from them it has made this game a tremendous amount of fun.
This forum has been excellent as well, like a family we have our issues but at the end of the day, it's all good.
I never get tired of Mustang's nuggets of wisdom. This is awesome. And I also agree that this forum feels very much like a family these days, given how long we've all "known" each other and it's a relatively small group.

I've seen you play; you're good enough to get in, dude. Good luck. It's awesome they've asked you about it - I figured one of them probably would have by now. I am still not sure I'm quite practiced enough on Plat yet to try out, so I'm working hard nose-to-the-grindstone on improving my game... I wanna join, too.
Also, sorry for always being grouped up. LOL If you're on tonight, I promise to be available, so shoot me an invite.
